I found this little beauty at a gun show this morning - Gen 1 G17 with Austrian proofs. The gun had a Hogue grip on it and the dealer didn't know what generation it was - $400 out the door. It's been a REALLY good gun week. :D

OMG Melissa,
And this is Glock number ??? - LOL!!!
Ok, being a fellow completely a out of control impulse buyer myself.
I must admit suddenly awakening at midnight Thursday and ordering my sixth barrel for my G27 - LOL....
My new Storm Lake G23 4.02" 40-9mm conversion barrel arrives Tuesday

Yup, Yup, I'm right there with you.

This wasn't really an impulse purchase because it was on the list of guns that I had been looking for.

I also sold 2 guns today and came home with $100 more than I started with. I sold a Gen 4 G19 that I never bonded with and an ISSC M22 .22 Glock clone.

Out of curiosity, what does one do with six barrels?

It's the first handgun model/generation that Glock produced and sold. At one time, the Gock 17 was your only choice when purchasing a Glock handgun.

Exactly! They are not easy to find any more.

Exactly! They are not easy to find any more.

I kind of felt that way about my S&W 640-1.
Not as rare as a Glock Gen 1 G17 for sure.
But I think it may have been S&W first Centennial 357 magnum.
I scoured the internet, gun shows, gun shops and pawn shops for months
until one dropped in my lap.
There were always a few ridiculously priced ones around.
But getting a deal on one took time, opportunity and luck.

I know the drill.
Congrats

Dang! Did you get a job with the gun store? Something to support your "habit"?

Melissa, I think you need that Dan Wesson Bobtail 9 that just got put on the block. Just so you remember what a good steel gun with wood handles feels like. I think you've inhaled too much tupperware of late.

Course if that make you happy, I'm happy too.

Out of curiosity, what does one do with six barrels?

My original intent was to run a single gun in multiple calibers.
This would allow greater versatility in ammo during an ammo crisis.
And would allow me to determine if I favored a particular caliber/round
for self defense. Not to mention the fun!

I know that doesn't explain six barrels though.
So a barrel chronology is in order.

1) Factory OEM G27/40 3.46" with Fail Zero Nickel Boron finish

I had a bad experience with a Bar-Sto in my P220 with FTF so initially I went with
2) Factory OEM G33/357 3.46"
As fate would have it; the barrel, with G33 mags, had BAD FTF nose dive with Speer GDHPs!

Mad as hell and not going to take it anymore,
I did some research and settled on Storm Lake.
Already having a standard length 357 barrel and never owning a ported one.
I went all out and special ordered directly from Storm Lake -
3) Storm Lake G27 4.16" Extended Dual Ported Isonite QPQ finish barrel.
(This bad boy takes about 30 days to manufacture and 30 more to finish.
I will get it early to mid march)

While on the net I ran across a third party distributor with a
9mm conversion barrel for $120 (this is a deal and the Trifecta).
4) Storm Lake G27 3.46" stainless steel 40-9mm conversion barrel.

Now I'm planning my 9mm/357 Sig/40 S&W shoot off.
But a checkout of the SL 9mm barrel blows away the OEM 40 and OEM 357!
No contest, not even close.

So to even the playing field I'm needing a Storm Lake 40.
Already having a standard length I go for extended this time.
5) Storm Lake G23 4.02" Stainless Steel
This barrel is better than OEM 40.
But the Storm Lake 40-9 conversion is still way, way, way the best.

Even though I haven't shot the SL 357 ported barrel yet?
It's crystal clear the G27 40-9 conversion is going to take the cake.

Checking ballistics and picking SD 9mm ammo, I'm realizing 1/2" really does
make a difference. Wanting the ultimate configuration for SD.
And having the opportunity to see, feel, shoot and carry the gun with a 4"
extended 40 barrel. The final ultimate upgrade was in order.
I woke up at midnight, logged on and ordered barrel number six.
6) Storm Lake G23 4.02" 40-9mm stainless steel conversion barrel.

And there you have it.
A tale of six barrels

I think that may be my new Indian name?

I spoke with them this past week and they are still interviewing.

My strategy has been to sell a gun to buy a different gun. I think I need to sell a couple more to get caught up. :o

I've still go the Colt 70 series that I fondle occasionally. :p

Good for you Melissa. One can't fondle a 1911 too much. The 1911s love to be caressed.
