I fired this round in my P-45 into water jugs. I couldn't ask for a better performance! This is out of a 3 1/2" barrel. The lead core stayed bonded and at one point the expansion must have been 1" or better! I picked it out of the 3rd jug, so it had perfect penetration. I would stake my life on these heavy weights! Check out the attached pictures!

Can't ask for a bullet to do more. How is the recoil?

Very controlable. Just have to practice and not let it bother you.

I've never used +P .45 ammo, but when I was reloading I always made essentially +P target rounds -- book loads at ~1000fps. It didn't take much extra powder and I never even thought of +P as needed for a .45 back then.
The standard load is about 850 fps, but the 230grain bullet always seemed sufficient. I guess when I get a PM45, I'll have to use +P to get that extra performance out of the shorter barrel, since that is what I did with my 9mm's.
Thanks for the info. I only use 230-grain bullets. I love pictures and I love this forum!

You may not get expansion like that in a human, water is denser than we are.
