i carry a crkt hissatsu. awesome little self defence knife. when closed it can be used as a kubaton or an impact weapon. when its open it has a bar that locks into place making the knife a virtual fixblade. only downside is its a little heavy and a little big. crkt is making a smaller version that should be out sometime soon. i also carry a kabar last ditch effort, just in case all other options are exhausted. id love to get a spyderco ronin or a custom snody version. im thinking about a blackhawk kalista. for the money it seems like a great knife with a ton of carry options.

I got a real hankering for a Snoddy myself, one of the guys here has one, he lets me fondle it once in awhile. I carry a Cold Steel similar to the pointy one in your photo but with a straight handle around my neck. Mostly I use it to open envelopes and clean my finger nails but it's right handy. I also keep a SOG Pentagon Elite in my pocket most of the time. Good knife is almost as much pleasure as a good gun.

those are both great manufacturers. ohio has a 2 1/2 blade length limit on concealed knives. not sure how this applies to people with a ccw permit though. id carry a fixed blade all the time, but due to this i carry the hissatsu because i can always argue that it wasnt concealed(the pocket clip was visible) snody makes some crazy knives!!! the man definately has a talent when it comes to his craft. i have a few of his benchmade versions. the smaller of the two is the activator. very nice knife and scary sharp:eek: its perfect for an edc and classy enough for dressy occasions. plus its small so people dont freak out when you pull it out. if you can still get your hands on some of the benchmade versions i say go for it. they are a great value for the price and are becoming just as collectable as the custom versions.

I sometimes carry a Gerber Fast Draw with a 3-inch blade. I clip it in the right rear pocket all the way to the right. It's spring-assisted after opening about 30 degrees. This is an inexpensive knife $29.95 at Wal*Mart. The BX sells the sme knife without the finish and serrations for the same price with no tax. I wanted some serrations and the finish was a bonus.:D

I mainly carry this when I can't CCW, especially on base. I sometimes take the risk and leave the gun in the vehicle, but I could lose my gun and there are probably other "considerations", too, if I was chosen for a random search; but sometimes I really want to carry when I'm going elsewhere.

I tried some other lock-blades, but I couldn't always sweep it open one-handed. This really works and it's fast opening... if you flick it as well, it's really impressive -- noise and speed. I would prefer a longer blade, but that would be another maker and twice the cost for starters. Oh, it weighs only 3.35 ounces.

I carry a Sog Flash-2 Tanto along with a Kimber Lifeact Pepper Blaster Guardian Angel with my K9.
I hope I never need to use them, but plan to use them in this order if I have a choice.
1-Kimber Lifeact Pepper Blaster Guardian Angel
2- K9
3- Sog Flash-2 Tanto
I really don't like thinking about the last line of defense, and am in the process of looking about adding somthing between it and the K9.

it's a Spyderco Delica. Small, light, and nasty with an ultra sharp serrated blade. I bought it a couple of years ago at a local gun show for about half the going retail value. About the only thing I ever got a gun show at LESS than normal retail.

I carry no less than 4 bladed instruments whenever I have my pants on, but none of them are dedicated to "weapon status". Even though I have been carrying some kind of knife for 50 years, they are all just well used tools.

I always carry a Gerber 06 Automatic. S30v steel (about as good as it gets for holding a razor edge through ridiculous abuse). Tanto blade, auto push button opening. Down side is its large and heavy. Up side is that its large and heavy. :D If I were to ever need the blade in a self defense situation i'm sure i'd be in a world of trouble already...however, its there if I need it. To me a knife is just one of those simple primitive tools that man invented cuz its got thousands of uses.

I always carry my Kershaw 1660 Ken Onion designed Leek stainless.

Reminds me of my Kahr in many ways. Just big enough, stainless, fast and it is scary sharp.

I often also carry a small lock blade like my Buck Gentleman Stainless for all those little cutting chores.

I always have a pocket knife on me. Usually I carry something smaller--a 2" blade or so, but occasionally I carry a Kershaw Blur Tanto or a Buck Alpha Hunter.

About half of mine are assisted openers including several Kershaws, Bucks, Gerbers, CRKT, and SOG. I also have a mix of non-assisted openers from Spyderco, Buck, Beretta, and Boker.

Cool little knives are one of the things my wife knows I like so I get them frequently on birthdays and anniversaries. In fact she gave me the little SOG Blink just two weeks ago.

I'd give you a detailed list of these but I can't remember the model of a bunch of them:

I carry CRKT Greg Lightfoot design @ work and a Benchmade Infidel when I'm off.
I am alot harder on the knives when at work, more of a tool, and the Infidel is strictly protection

Cheers,
Dave

Either this in the pocket:
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/86/232999458_8df52ca125.jpg

Or this clipped in the pocket, with a zip tie through the hole. Have a serrated and plain edge of the Spyderco.
http://www.spyderco.com.ar/spyderco-endura-4/spyderco-endura-4.jpg

All my plain edges (save one) are for daily use, the one serrated is for social purposes - even though in Ohio I only carry cutting tools, not weapons, to stay legal.

This goes on me when I don't go to work or school that day, it's an excellent one purpose knife, and they offer one size larger as well. Works well in slashing and stabbing, icepick and point forward grips. It can't slip in your hand and let your hand go up onto the blade either. Good steel, holds an edge well, and the holster it comes with is pretty good.

CRKT Convergence for the pocket, flips open easy, sharp. MSRP around $70 when they came out, has a slider thumb button to move the liner lock over to
close it, rattles if you shake the knife. Maybe that's why I got this one for
$17. Also comes part serrated.

Hope I did the link right, newbie. I'll find out in a minute.

In Colorado a "knife" is more than 3 1/2" when you're out & about. Pocket clip makes it non-concealed, depending on who is evaluating, so Convergence is probably safe enough.

SOG PE-1 for around the house, smooth fast open, sharp, doesn't hurt me in my sleep.

I CARRY a kershaw blur tanto, but its a piece of chit my 8 yr old son stabbed it in my porch railing (i let him and was right next to him) and when he wiggled it to get it out the tipped snapped off. it was a new knife too. either my 8yr old is hurcules strong or the knife is either defective or crap, i sharpened the tip it not pionty but its flat and sharp, it'l go in ya if i want it to still. they do open really fast though one handed, and iv had it for a long time so im kinda attached to it still

My 2 favorites are CRKT Kit Carson M4-03 & a Hide-Away-Knife. Between those 2, I have no reason not to have a blade accompany my PM9. The one-handed Outburst assisted opening of the CRKT is lightning fast & easy. Nicely balanced and well made. The Hide Away Knife is a 2 finger blade custom made to your hand (finger) dimensions. I carry it with a neck sheath and forget it’s there sometimes. Check it out: http://www.hideawayknife.com (http://www.hideawayknife.com/)
