What years were T9s made?

It seems every T9 I've seen has a PA serial number, which, according to the serial number/DOB chart, means the year of manufacture was 2002 or 2003. Is why they are so scarce? Are they still made? Does anyone have a T9 with a serial number that doesn't start with PA?

here is my 2 cents on this. or a SCIENTIFIC WILD ASS GUESS. The T9 is probalby their worst seller, in total numbers.. and when they make a gun they might start out with a ALPHA lettering such as PA and designate a alpha change maybe to PB after lets say 10,000 units have been made.

I would put more presidence on the acutal numbers after the PA stampings. They would give u an indication of when it was made and a call to kahr with all ur numbers will get u a birth date to.. If u find a NIB T9 at a dealer with the PA alpha lettering, you can bet ur bottom dollars that gun is not 7 years old either.

If one goes to the archives on kahr PM9 guns, they change alpha lettering every 10,000 units.

From what I understand they were done in a limited run/s. I would like to have one, but I suppose my K is not that much different in dimensions. I really like the way the T feels in my hand though.

T9 has a near perfect ergonomic fit for me.

I liked mine too but did note that the special wood grip is fat or rounded enough that I could get a lot more rounds in a Springfield XD or other frame with a wider mag yet similar grip feel. The T series is actually a departure from the feel of the other Kahr models.

I just purchaesd a new from factury T-9 with a sn# PA 11##. :) It was shipped from Kahr last week. Nice feel, will range test next week. Pictures later.....

That's about my number... PA 014X. If PA 11XX just came out in 2011, then there aren't very many T9s available. Sounds like only 100 or so per year. No wonder you don't see them every day.

I have my T9 listed for sale on another site. Maybe I should keep it if it's this rare. :confused:

I think ur dead on target ripley 16, They don't sell good for some reason, dealeres tend to shy away from them, for reasons I know not why. Surprised they still keep it in their line. They might be sitting on a few years supply also. I doubt if they gear up to make a 100 units...Just specualtion.. still a great gun and if you own one u can say ur one of the elite 100 owners each year.

I think I am right in saying that PA prefix will not change until it hits PA9999, then it will more than likely change to PB****. I don't see that happening in the next 10 years even. The T-9 is just not a seller for some reason, probalby more so that most dealers don't have it in the show case for people to see and buy..

The one I saw 2 weeks ago at our local gunshow is the first one I'd ever laid eyes on in person. I'm kind of hoping its there again this month if it didn't sell. Ironically the same guy that had the first Cbob I ever saw in person and sold before I could claim it had it on his table.

I seriously doubt I'll come up with the marbles to make it happen but at least maybe I can hold it again. I console myself with the fact that I really don't need a 9 anyhow. But she definitely was sweet.

think about it, if youir gonna carry the K9 in waist band or call it your range gun, why not then go with the T9, same gun basicallay but longer slide and barrel. It should be kahrs best shooter.

My second T-9 is a PA, just over ser 100, and was made in June 2002.

mine is PA1017, and supposed to have been made in early september 2010..

It took forever for them to get me one. My gunshop's distributer told them that T-9 is not a great seller, because for some reason or other, most people seems to think that compact single stack 9mm shouldn't cost so damn much, there for noone buys them. So when they get the order for T9, they have to look around other distributers as well, as Kahr usualy don't have one in stock.
May be Kahr make 1 T-9 for every 100K-9 they make?

It appears Kahr has produced under 1200 T9s in about 9 years, or about 130 per year. Certainly not their "bread and butter" cash cow.

I propose that since the T9 is so exclusive, we T9 snobs should differentiate ourselves in some way. Perhaps we should;

* shoot with our pinky finger extended.
* wear our Kahr hat backwards, (SWAT style):cool:
* use words like "portfolio" and "estate"
* engrave and gold plate our T9s.;)
* move to Cape Cod with the Kennedys.

I'm very aware that, and respecably disagree.
What matter to most people are what your getting for the price they pay.
What Im saying is that people who buys full sized 1911(or Commander sized, which is essentialy the same demention as T9) in .45ACP don't think compact 9mm that hold 8+1 shouldn't cost as much as it does, and specialy so when there are so many other compact sized 9mm that are about the half as much are flooding the market.
And the fact Kahr is not as well known as Sig, Kimber, or all the other big name doesn't help either

Don't get me wrong tho - I believe T-9 is fantasitc over engineered master piece. But to some, when you can buy something like Sig P226, which is manly looking, high capacity in same caliber for around $750, Or Smith and Wesson M&P9 - which is another fantastic duty gun that is not much larger the T-9, but hold 17+1 for less then $500, its hard to justify T-9's price(Im not sure what the avg OTD price on T-9 is going for these days. Mine was $799) IMO.

I think what makes T-9 the great gun is more then a skin deep. Its the fit/finish, the butter smooth DA trigger, the reliability, simplisity, quality material it employs and the fact the frame is designed by an engineer who have actualy seen a avg size human hand.
But most people don't think that sort of stuff. Most cares about how they look(my dad is guilty of this), what caliber, how many rounds does it hold, and what manufacture.

And most people have nevershot one, or even seen one in person don't help either

I've long thought those two models of pistol compared very well; same size, same weight, same barrel length, same mag capacity. I enjoy shooting both of these fine guns. :)

The lightweight TP9 is also a favorite of mine, if fact, it may be my favorite Kahr. Why, I could not say exactly.

I have MMC sights on the T9, which are nice, and standard Kahr sights on the TP9, which I do not really like, but I shoot them about the same. If there is a difference in accuracy, I would attribute it to the sights and therefore the shooter, and not the gun.:o

I have MMC sights on my K9 and I thijnk they made a slight difference for me, as I had to do more moving of themj sue to my piss poor shooting ability.

Other than additional weight kthe TP9 is a big gun to so grip and sighting should be identical to the T9. If I owned eithe rone, I would indeed port it and it would just have to be so so so pleasant...

I got my T9 SN: PA1069 a year ago last June 2010. I bought it in May and had it waiting for me when I got back in country. Same with a MK40, SN: HA4010.

So from the looks of the serial number range we might have 1100 T-ps manufatured since around 2001/2002 given my low 100s serial number made in 2002. So maybe they are making only 100 or so a year? Hardly seems likely, but the serial numbers and relative scarcity of this model would seem to support the esimate. Also telling as to why holsters are relitively hard to find.

they sure ain't makein alot of them that is for sure and I have stated I thijnk one rerason why sales cold be low is that 99% of the stocking kahr dealers don't have that gun in the display case. For some reason they by pass it

Sweet shooter, but I don't carry it, well not too much anyway. Use my PM9 and P45 (sometimes together)

Didn't know I had such a rare gem. Picked up a Kahr T9 not long ago with a serial number in the low 600's.
