That is one nice looking gun. I believe it's called gun porn.

I love em that shiney, but I'm a gun porn addict. Dang I could comb my hair in that reflection, that is iffen I had hair to comb. Well it was a good thought. Wonder if I can polish my K40 that shiney, sort of a duo tone mirror edition.

The question is not that if you can, is the matter if you want!

Looking a bit closer I'm thinking that bad boy is plated, not polished. I couldn't come close to that shiney but does get the jambed up gears in my head turning. Turning mightly slow but turning.
I'll see if I can the dang camera working again before I commit.

Yup, I have stirring feelings right now. I have always loved the K40 and will own one if I can find one a reasonable price. They have been turning up more here lately, my hopes are buoyed.

It's polished. He showed some progressive pics on another forum. Beautiful pistol.

He claims it is a factory covert, all he did was to polish the slide and frame and added the Pearce mag base.

Lets see so that's one vote to put away the dremel polishing machine and leave the K40 the way it is? Am I pretty clear on that, I know how the voting ballots are down south, especially Florida.

Don't know if the factory put it there or not, but it does have K40 Covert on the side above the trigger

I'm still waiting for the latest version which is 24k gold with a ruby for the safety and blood diamonds for the sights along with the recently outlawed brazilian rosewood grips carved by Bob Vila.

When I posted my P9 on THR this morning, the owner of this K40 asked me if I wanted to trade, since he's now moving strictly to 9mm.
Little too much bling for me and not really what I'm looking for atm.

That would be a mighty tempting offer to me. I don't think theres that many covert 40's out there, maybe I just haven't seen them. A set of XS sights on that shiney pretty thing and she'd be a beauty. Agree, it's alot of bling but sure pretty. I think it would grow on me.

That is a legit gun from Kahr. The last batch was made in 2001 - 2002. If it were a K9, I'd be a buyer.

Well, well, well, what have we here??? That looks like the Kahr K40 Covert in my safe ;) I was perusing KT this morning, what a pleasant surprise when I happened upon this thread! This is the thread that made me break down and finally register here.

Long story short, I spent 20-40 hours sanding and polishing to get the gun to look the way it does now, and it was worth every second. It is very difficult to capture how good the gun looks in photos. I polished the barrel, barrel hood and slide-stop lever as well. Started with 400 grit, worked up to 2000, then used wheel polish, then red buffing compound on a buffing wheel, and finally white compound on high speed. What you see is the final result.

As was mentioned before, the only reason I'm selling it is because I switched over to 9mm. Here is another picture of the gun:

Here is another picture that shows off just how good the finish turned out (prior to polishing the frame). What card am I holding???
