A true WW2 story about 19 Marines
killed on Makin island (defending against the Japanese). The surviving Marines had to retreat, so asked the islanders to please bury their dead for them.

Years later, they checked and found a man who had been a teenager then and remembered where the 19 men were buried. A C130 Aircraft and appropriate honor guard was sent, and found all 19 had been buried with their helmets on, their rifles in their hands, and were in perfect condition. The islanders had really done a wonderful job. As the honor guard was loading the bodies, a voice from out of nowhere started singing "The Marine Hymn"...giving everyone goose bumps.
It turned out, that the voice was from a man who spoke no English but remembered the song the Marines taught him when they landed.

Very touching. They got all 19 and their photos are at the end.

As I see yet another amazing report from WWII, I wonder just how many untold stories are still out there.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Gary……….that's going to everyone.

My Uncle fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded.

My Husband's Dad fought in Europe during WWII.

My Husband was drafted and fought in the infantry during Vietnam.

I'm retired AF but I can't make those claims.

I so respect all of them.

Awesome story! Unfortunately, I think the video has gone away, so I was unable to watch it. Maybe better as I too may have cried.

Here’s a screen shot of what I see when I click on the above link, as well as a shot of Bamo crying. Figure seeing him cry might be just as satisfying, if not more!

Maybe I’ll remember to try it next time I crack open the laptop. I view everything these days on my ipad, so only browsing through Safari.
About Obama, not sure how he did that, short of a certain level of intelligence, or lack there of in his supporters.

I just watched it. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Makes me proud to have been a part of the US military.
4 years USN, 2 years USA and 27 years USAF.
