I know my Kahr CW9 is +P rated and I ahve shot +P rounds out of it, but my question is this.

I think that I would prefer to use a standard pressure load, there by reducing the muzzle flash. I have shot the WW 147gr. JHP's and I really like the way the load preforms. Very moderate recoil and less muzzle flash.

My question is this, would there be enough velocity to have a good expansion of the bullet in the 3.5" bbl. ? Would you consider this a practical round for defensive purposes?

What will work in a CW9 - Just about anything
What is good for defense - Anything that works in your gun

So to answer your question - Yes and yes

The Winchester JHPs aren't bad bullets but there are much better designs out there. I personally prefer Gold Dots. The first rounds I put through my CW9 were hand loaded 124gr +P (close to +P anyways) Gold Dots and they ran smoothly.

If you want a good penetrating round with a little less recoil than lighter +P loads, take a look at the non +P 147gr HST, Gold Dots or Golden Sabers. HSTs would be my first choice if I didn't load my own.

I use Doubletap ammo, it's a low flash round:

9mm+P 115gr JHP 50rds.

These loads are low flash. They are a great option for personal defense.

Now available!

Caliber : 9mm+P

Bullet : Remington JHP

Ballistics : 115gr @ 1415fps / 511ft. lbs. from a G17.
Glock 19 velocity - 1395fps.

Cor Bon DPX. Yes, it's a +p, but i like how it performs. Use them in both my CW9 and PM9.
