Please confirm for me that the removable buttstock Thompsons can be used/fired as a long barrel pistol?

I assume?! that the T1B-14 is a steel and not aluminum receiver, if nothing else, on its weight.

Does anyone know if the T1B-14 can use the 50-100 round drums as well as the 30 round stick mags? It seems to only ship with one 20 rounds stick mag.
