50AE Mags Don't Drop Free

I have an older Mk7 44mag that I have installed a Mk19 50AE upper on. And i noticed that the 50AE mags fit SUPER tight. Not only do they not drop free... you have to pry them out at the bottom. I suspect it's the grip tabs rubbing too tightly on the mags. Will new (better) grips solve this issue? I was looking at Alumagrips anyway for it. Might be time to get them.

I replaced my original one piece plastic IMI grip, with a set of Hogue Rubber grips from the Magnum Research a while back and had the same issue, but it was very temporary. I shot the gun a few times and they got more free... then I took them loose and aligned them a bit better. Eventually, one two Mk VII's, they became drop free in all calibers. :)
More specifically, I got the type without finger grooves for both of mine...

It is like they had to break in a bit. Not sure why though...
