Yeah I got the Gold Dot 124+p already. Just looking for the Short Barrel version. Seems to be ideal ammo for the PM9

Just bought two boxes of it today when I picked up my brand new PM9.

Yep, it says short barrel hollow point on the box.

Gun store is in Colorado, but I don't know if that helps you.

Excellent in that it reduces muzzle blast & optimizes short barrel performance. Down side is the cost...more than 2x compared to standard gold dot in LEO packaging. I use it, exclusively, as defense loads for my steel frame snub .38s and .357s. Gotta confess, though, that for the PM9 I carry std pressure 124gr HydraShok. Might have something to do with positive history and the thousand round plus I still have on hand.

I made my order yesterday. The people at Speer seem to really know what they`re doing. When it arrives,I want to do some testing with gallon jugs of water.I love the huge gush of water when the bullet hits the jugs. Then again,I always was easily amused.

I also place another order for yesterday for a couple boxes of the Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 124gr and I also ordered a box of the Corbon DXP 115gr to test as I have a close friend that will carry nothing else.

All, I am not sure I understand the real advantage of the Gold Dot Short Barrel round. According to the Speer site, this round (from a 3.5" barrel) yields 1150 fps at the muzzle and 364 ft. pounds of enery. The standard 124 +P round (from a 4" barrel) yields 1220 fps and 410 ft. pounds of energy. Now if you shot that same round out of a 3.5" barrel wouldn't it be pretty close to the performance of the "short barrel" round? Or would the standard round numbers be that much less? Can someone shed some light on this? I am trying to determine if there is really a difference. I have the PM9 and want the most effective defensive round. I am using the CorBon 115 gr. +P which is really hot. The specs are impressive (but rated based on a 4" barrel). I wonder what that performance is through the PM9?
