New member here. Do not have PM9 yet, or any other 9mm. Want a pm9 bad. Have just started accumulating some ammo. Would appreciated any comments on the following ammo I have bought.

Winchester WB 115 gr FMJ
Remington UMC 115gr MC L9MM3 (FMJ)
Federal 115 gr FMJ RN (from WalMart, cheapest of any of these listed)
Winchester WB 147 gr JHP USA9JHP2 (would this be a decent SD load?)

Fire away, I know nothing !!

I have used Winchester WB 115 gr FMJ without issues~400 rounds. I had one FTF with Remington FMJ 115 gr L9MM3. I have ran about 50 rounds of Fiocchi 124 gr JHP's without issue. These will likely be my self defense round since I have a bunch of them. The PM9 a fine gun, I like it more each time I shoot it!

All of those should work. Personally, I prefer and use Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel and Federal HST for most of my defense handguns. But, hypocrite that I am, I still use HydraShok 124 gr in the PM9 that I carry 85%+ of the time simply because it's still an effective round and I have a ton of it.

:)Ammunition To Go : 20rds - 9mm Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 124gr. +P HP Ammo [23611] - $21.95 (http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/catalog1/product_info.php/cPath/23_61_119/products_id/655)

This is my preferred self-defense round of choice for the Kahr PM9 and my Glock 26.

There are many good 9mm Self Defense rounds these days find one that your gun cycles flawlessly and you shoot accurately and feel confident in your choice.

I`ve used all of them except the 147 grain jhp with no problem in my PM9. Just a guess off the top of my head would be that the Winchester would probably be O.K. for self defense but if you can find some ballistic test results on the internet you would be better served. My personal choice for self defense ammunition is either Remington Golden Saber or Speer Gold Dot,both in 124 grain+P.

have to go with bordfer bandit on ammo choice for self defense, for paper punching, just can' beat the 115 gr wwb from wal mart. less than $20 for box of 100, just not sure one can beat that price anywhere. Mine ha snever fail edo to bang with wwb ammo either. It is good ammo for paper punching...

I use 124g gold dots mostly but like HST's and don't forget DPX's

I have used the cheap entry level winchester 147 hollow points--white box 50 rounds for $16 a box at wal-mart. I found that the 147s are very, very accurate, and they fed well with no jams. I can get tighter groups with the 147s then with the 115s.

I bought about 3 months ago a 1000 rounds of 147 wwb 50 round box at wal-mart for $7.29 a box. $16 sure seems high. I noticed today at Wal-mart they now have the 100 box of 115 fmj wwb for $21.90.

still after over 10 months my local wal-mart has zero 380 ammo, so I guess my littler P380 will be resting in peace..

The standard-pressure Remington/UMC green 100-count economy box 115 gr. JHP ammo -- bought at Wallyworld -- functions well in my PM9. Since I have no desire to use +P ammo, I would almost be inclined to use this for self-defense, were it not for the good things I hear, but have not yet experienced, from the new Hornady Critical Defense round. I need to check that out!

As other posters have noticed, the Winchester 115 gr. 100-count economy box fodder works fine at the range in PM9s.
