Does anybody besides me have pet names for their firearms and if you do,what are they? For instance my Glock is called "Mein Fuhrer" and my PM9 has been dubbed "Lori Darlin`" after a woman that I know who may be diminuative in size, but I believe if you ticked her off,it would be like slapping a wildcat. So how about the rest of you? Don`t be afraid of looking crazy, you`ll get used to it after a while.

Dietrich, How creative of you! My Savage Arms BAT/S is called Sexy. The only gun I've bought out of sheer lust. Never touched one or saw one in the flesh....but I had to have it.

Its a guy thing.

Glock 19 & 26: Hugin & Munin
Kahr CW9: Mjollnir
S&W 642: Remy
S&W 38: Sasa
Kahr E9: Shaft (this was before the 2000 movie)
pistol-gripped Remington 870: Iron B!1*h (I still have a scar on my lip from the first time I fired it with the pistol -grip).

There are other names. They are not appropriate.

I like the idea of naming my carry gun. Always a female name as I look at my gun and think "Man it sure would be a ***** to get shot by this". That is sexist I know, sorry, but its true. So I name mine Betty.

Fortunately, only one has a "name", so to speak.....and that is my PM9. It came well after my last XD purchase, which happened to be an XD9 w/ stainless slide. As such, the PM9 is known as "Mini-Me".

From very deep deep in the archives but perhaps worthy of revival. Some post from Ms Zena. Fond memories.
We know Wynn has "Boomer", what do you got?

My wife & I have a matching set of S&W 642 revolvers.
We call them Abbott and Costello. It's very useful for those times in public that you don't want to shout "Hey Phil, you got your gun on ya?" Just a short little "Is Costello with you?" does the trick.

It works for us.

No I have not named my weapons but it sounds like it might not be a bad idea as a distress signal for your loved ones in case the Sh!! is about to hit the fan.

Guess you would be able to announce "Here comes Martha"

That would be better than "get down I'm drawing my pistol"

Actually that's an excellent point. Little signals that let your spouse and loved ones know that somethings not right without massive hysteria and alarm.

When we go anyplace and we're in a group all my people stay on my left side or maintain some distance, never crowd me on the right side.

My little signal which isn't a panic hit the floor kind of thing is to just say I have to get to work. It's kind of like saying somethings not right, pay attention, look for a place to hide kind of thing.

I figure if it's a face to face and already a bad thing we didn't see coming I don't care if I cause hysteria or alarm, they'll get out of the way when I shout Bonzai and launch my attack.

My oldest sometimes now carries especially when we go to scary places like the Malls in the larger but relatively nearby cities. We haven't addressed possible cross fire scenarios which we really should do. He rarely goes with us anymore, since he's the son he gets to say I don't want to go and SWMBO just says ok. I say it, get the head slap, and instructions to get in the van asap. It's for the children don't cha know?

Well, I guess it is a pet name when I call my 1911 Colt "Dad's Gun". I say it with reverence, not like my PM9 "Ole Snot Shooter". :) As "I'll shoot the snot out of you."

Have to laugh at the distress password! I used to think it was a good idea but since we crossed over that "memory threshold" if we decide on 'artichoke' we'll forget and say vegetable, then argue is an artichoke a fruit or vegetable while all heck goes on around us. Our family is starting to look at us and pat our hands saying "now, now there." I think that's code for "load 'em up and head them out to the home." Wonder if they'll let me carry in there.

Excuse me, but Bawanna, what does SWMBO mean? I know you are referring to your wife, but I just can't decipher it.

I only named my first gun. She was a Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel. Her name was Betty. Now I just call them by their model name.

Guess my distress code could be stated like Jack Nickelson said in one of his movies.

"HERES JOHNNY"

While in conversation with her girlfriends, I have overheard my wife referring to my gun as the "angry inch" I never ask, but I am pretty sure she means my 340pd.

My DLC PM45 with Night Sights was "Boomer" and after so many trips(4) back to the factor and maybe one original part left... slide lock(?)... I called it "Franken_Boomer" for a while. He went back to the factory for a 5th time when I had a bout of magazine splits, but got a clean bill of health.

He's "Boomer" again. I haven't named any other pistols.

(I never even named my 21+ foot walk-around cabin boat! I had it for 5-6 years and it's been gone... sold... for 10 years this month... too many expensive repairs with the Johnson Ficht 175-HP OB motor.)
