I have considered getting a 40 for my EDC. I have read that the P40 has considerable recoil . . . would the K40 be a better 40 due to the increased weight??? Anyone have both and have experience??
Thanks,

In nearly every case I can think of, considering comparable design, all metal (steel in particular) framed handguns deliver less percieved recoil than lighter polymer framed guns. I've found this true among various, comparable framed 1911 compact models. My stainless compact Kimber is much more forgiving than it's alloy framed cousin. But, the low bore axis of the Kahr pistols in general seem, to me anyway, to have less muzzle flip and percieved recoil than other poly framed handguns. I can't personally speak to the issues pertaining to the "P" series 40 cal, but I can say that the CW40 isn't really much more agressive in my hand than my Sig P239 40 cal. I assume that the low bore axis makes a lot of the difference.

Get 'em both:D

I have a P40 and a Glock 23. There is a slight difference in the recoil. The P40 has a little more snap to it than the G23.The G23 being slightly heavier is faster back on target.

handle them both then buy the one you like best than have it mag-na-ported.

I've owned a CW40, and currently own a K40 and a Glock 23. The CW40 was a great carry gun due to it's light weight and size. The K40 weighs more but still conceals well and shoots a little better than the CW40 due to the weight. The K40 loaded weighs the exact same as a a Glock 23 loaded. It's due to the fact the K40 is steel framed and the Glock 23 is polymer framed. I have no problem with the weight of the K40 or Glock 23, the CW40 is even better weight wise. However I like the K40 better than the CW40 because it's a little easier to shoot, and has quicker shot to shot times. Attached is a pic of my K40 and my Glock 23 in their respective Mitch Rosen 5JR-EXP holsters. They are great and conceal very well!

I have both a P40 and k40....there is more recoil with the P40 but it is not that much of an issue....I am 6' 250lb....if you are smaller it may not be the same story for you.

The P40 does seem to try to twist in my hand more.....hope this is of some help.

steel version=heavier::::: polymer version=lighter. there is a trade off for each version. If I ha dto own a 40 cal kahr it would be the P40 and I would magna-port it, then I feel I would have the best of both worlds...
