I've got a new toy coming today, so I bought a box of .45 last night.

Jeesh it's pricey! I've always been primarily a 9mm shooter, and am shocked by the price of .45! Twice the price of 9mm? I don't think I'll be able to afford to shoot too much. :(

On that note: Just ordered a .45ACP carbide die set.

Expensive but worth it. What part of the world you in Buckeye. I just got a bucket of brass from a neighboring agency, looks like it's mostly 45. They know thats what I look for.
While I don't believe in surplus or the possibility of having too much I got enough that I could send you some.

Maybe send it to Old Lincoln, he can clean it and make it pretty and new and then on to you.

Try Wal-Mart for 230-grain FMJ Winchester White Box 100 rounds for $32.95 and Federal Champion at about $16.99 a box of 50. $17 or so a box is cheaper than 'Net prices after shipping. That's about $7 more a box than 9mm for twice the throw weight and more bang... US made, too.

Added: Use FMJ for break-in... first 200 rounds and then shoot a box of what you plan to use for defense to make sure it feeds reliably through your gun and accuracy is good enough.

I'm in Ohio, and that's very generous Bawanna, but I've been collecting brass for a while now so I should be OK once I start reloading 45. I just don't want to use reloads for my first range trip. While I typically avoid Wallyworld, I did stop in there but they were sold out of .45. At the gun shop today and they wanted $42 for a 100ct box of reman ammo... I'll wait until Wally has some back in stock and pick up a few boxes. I'm gonna need it... :D

Buckeye,
You're gonna need a "whole lot" of 45's for that toy!

Win VP .45 was $32.97 at the store today. Win VP .380 was $31.97. Sure glad I'm done breaking in .380s and moving on to .45s. I'll take the performance increase for another penny a round.

I saw a place that had Blazer brass 45's for $16.99, with free shipping on 1000 round lots. Dave's Hardware ? I think that was it.

Florida Gun Exchange has a $16.99 Blazer brass special too.
