A message from Rand Paul:

Dear fellow Patriot,

Gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced the Obama Administration will be working hand-in-glove with the UN to pass a new "Small Arms Treaty."

Disguised as an "International Arms Control Treaty" to fight against "terrorism," "insurgency" and "international crime syndicates," the UN Small Arms Treaty is in fact a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.

I'm helping lead the fight to defeat this radical treaty in the United States Senate and I want your help.

Please join me by taking a public stand against this outright assault on our national sovereignty by signing the Official Firearms Sovereignty Survey (wlmailhtml:{4A28566B-8035-4A61-88F9-2ACBE680D630}mid://00000018/!x-usc:http://www.nagr.org/UN_RP_Survey1.aspx?pid=fs03).

Ultimately, the UN Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens like YOU.

So far, the gun-grabbers have successfully kept the exact wording of their new scheme under wraps.

But looking at previous versions of the UN Small Arms Treaty, you and I can get a good idea of what's likely in the works.

If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN Small Arms Treaty would almost certainly FORCE the U.S. to:
*** Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding Americans cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;
*** CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL "unauthorized" civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);
*** BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;
*** Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.
I'm sure I don't have to tell you that this is NOT a fight we can afford to lose.

Ever since its founding 65 years ago, the United Nations has been hell-bent on bringing the United States to its knees.

To the petty dictators and one-world socialists who control the UN, the United States of America isn't a "shining city on a hill" -- it's an affront to their grand designs for the globe.

These anti-gun globalists know that so long as Americans remain free to make our own decisions without being bossed around by big government bureaucrats, they'll NEVER be able to seize the worldwide power they crave.

And the UN's apologists also know the most effective way to finally strip you and me of ALL our freedoms would be to DESTROY our gun rights.

That's why I was so glad to hear that the National Association for Gun Rights is leading the fight to stop this assault on our Constitution!

The truth is there's no time to waste.

You and I have to be prepared for this fight to move FAST.

The fact is the last thing the gun-grabbers at the UN and in Washington, D.C. want is for you and me to have time to mobilize gun owners to defeat this radical legislation.

They've made that mistake before, and we've made them pay, defeating EVERY attempt to ram the UN Small Arms Treaty into law since the mid-1990s.

But now time may not be on our side.

In fact, we're likely to only have a few weeks to defeat the treaty when they make their move.

And we definitely don't have a President in the White House who will oppose this treaty.

So our ONE AND ONLY CHANCE to stop the UN Small Arms Treaty is during the ratification process in the U.S. Senate.

As you know, it takes 67 Senate votes to ratify a treaty.

With new pro-gun champions joining me in the Senate, rounding up enough votes to kill this thing should be easy, right?

Unfortunately, that couldn't be further from the truth.

Even with the Republican tidal wave in 2010, there still isn't a pro-gun majority in the Senate to kill ratification of the treaty.

You know just as well as I do how few Senators are truly "pro-gun."

Not only that, but many Senators get "queasy" about killing treaties for fear of "embarrassing" the President -- especially with "international prestige" at stake.

They look at ratifying treaties much like approving the President's Supreme Court nominees.

Remember how many Senators turned their back on us and voted to confirm anti-gun Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor?

A dozen more only voted against Sotomayor after receiving massive grassroots pressure from the folks back home.

So if we're going to defeat the UN Small Arms Treaty gun owners have to turn the heat up on the U.S. Senate now before it's too late!

Do you believe the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Second Amendment are the supreme law of the land?

Do you believe any attempt by the United Nations to subvert or supersede your Constitutional rights must be opposed?

If you said "Yes" to these questions, please sign the survey the National Association for Gun Rights has prepared for you.

Your survey will put you squarely on the record AGAINST the UN Small Arms Treaty.

If you wish to sign the petition it's at:
http://www.nagr.org/UN_RP_Survey1.aspx?pid=fs03

And of course the want you to send some money:

So please put yourself on record AGAINST the UN Small Arms Treaty by signing NAGR's Firearms Sovereignty Survey (wlmailhtml:{4A28566B-8035-4A61-88F9-2ACBE680D630}mid://00000018/!x-usc:http://www.nagr.org/UN_RP_Survey1.aspx?pid=fs03).

But along with your survey, please agree to make a generous contribution of $250, $100, $50 or even just $35 (wlmailhtml:{4A28566B-8035-4A61-88F9-2ACBE680D630}mid://00000018/!x-usc:http://www.nagr.org/UN_RP_Survey1.aspx?pid=fs03).

And every dollar counts in this fight so even if you can only chip in $10 or $20 (wlmailhtml:{4A28566B-8035-4A61-88F9-2ACBE680D630}mid://00000018/!x-usc:http://www.nagr.org/UN_RP_Survey1.aspx?pid=fs03), it will make a difference.

Thank you in advance for your time and money devoted to defending our Second Amendment rights.

Signed by Rand Paul

I don't know if you want to send money or not, but would you consider signing the petition?
Tom

I just wondered if anyone saw this, did anyone care?

Since you asked,

I did see it, I read it, I researched it, and found it to be full of errors, omissions, and inaccuracies.

"If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN Small Arms Treaty would almost certainly FORCE the U.S. to:..."

The treaty hasn't even been drafted yet, so to make these kinds of statements is just trying to get people worked up, and to send money. Clinton has even set it up so that if this ever comes to pass, it would have to require full agreement, meaning the US can block it. This one will never pass our Senate, and the Constitutional challenges would crater it. But it's not even a real threat at this stage, and it's not at all directed at laws inside US borders. If you're exporting firearms for sale, I'm not too opposed to having people check you out, to make sure you're not selling to the bad guys.

Thanks for the input Husky44. One cannot be too sure what the Senate will or won't do these days, and if Obama were to get a chance to nominate another justice, things won't look quite so good. Too many judges think the Constitution is something they can ignore as they choose. And Hillary was never a friend of gun owners, so I wouldn't count on her to do much of anything good for us.

IF that actually came from Rand Paul his stock just fell about 30,000%...

Why's that? The part before they ask you to send money was from him, the send money was from NationalGunRights.org

Because it is mostly bogus.

"Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding Americans cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;"

Nothing I have seen that is serious on this issue has anything to do with owning a firearm. It is only about arms trade as far as my investigation can tell. Since I do not trade internationally in firearms the treaty as I understand it will not effect me except in the case I attempt to buy a firearm made outside the US which might be effected by this treaty.

"CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL "unauthorized" civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);"

Again nothing I have seen mentions anything about confiscation and destruction of already owned civilian arms EXCEPT those arms confiscated from dealers dealing illegally.

" BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;"

Also ONLY when dealing with international trade. Nothing in anything I have read says the treaty would effect internal US gun law.

IF that crapola came from Mr Paul then I will for sure not be sending any $ his way and he will not get my vote in any election.

NOW it is entirely possible that I do not have a clue and I may find out that what this claims is actually true, in that case Mr Paul would indeed get my vote.

Even now going to the UN website I see nothing on a treaty that deals with internal gun control. I do see something about an arms trade treaty tho.

If the Small Arms Treaty is what Rand Paul says it is, you think they are going to come out and state that? You trust Hillary to protect your gun rights?

You give Hillary Clinton credit for way more power than she actually has. Our Constitution is still in force; the Secretary of State can't ratify anything, except maybe her own expense account. That takes an act of Congress. Seeing as how the UN treaty hasn't even been drafted yet, let alone discussed and debated in the UN, or passed by the UN, so that it even comes up for consideration in our Senate, I'd say that she's got an insurmountable task, IF Mr. Paul were correct, which he's not.

If it would help any, here's a link to the 2009 UN resolution authorizing a conference in 2012 to discuss the possibility of a treaty. There's enough weasel words in there to allow anyone to prevent it's adoption by the US.

Paul says that the treaty is in the works, nothing's been submitted. He's just going by what he thinks is likely to be in the treaty when it does come up for a vote. All he's doing is asking you to sign a petition that you won't vote for any Senator that votes to ratify the treaty if it ever comes about. Nothing to get excited about.
And of course NatioinalGunRights.org asks for a contribution, no worse than the NRA or any other Gun lobby always asking for money.
Sure, Hillary can't ratify squat, but she can help draft a real monstrosity.

Unless something unexpected happens, I think the next likely retiree, for health reasons, is Ginsburg. That won't hurt us much because she's as liberal as it gets.

Yes I expect the UN to come out and say exactly what it is and what it intends. They generally have no problem doing so and they have no qualm about saying they want disarmament.

Aint no need to trust Ms Clinton in this case since it is a UN treaty and she aint part of the voting block of the UN. Now as to what exactly will be in such treaty I don't think anyone knows since they aint met and discussed it as yet (that seems to be scheduled for early 2012).

Except that Mr Paul didn't draft the contents of that "plea". That crap has been going around for some time. IF Mr Paul signed on without doing at least a modicum of investigation then he aint worth spit in my opinion. No better then Ms Clinton NOR President Obama in the slinging of crapola.

I myself am damn tired of the crapola these career politicians are slinging.

I would think if Mr. Paul signed on to that, that he must think there is at least some truth to it. He is not a career politician, and he generally shoots pretty straight. He's one of the few on capitol hill that I do trust to do what's in our best interest.

All he did was ask people to sign a petition. If that offends you so much then just ignore it. Yes, I seen similiar things going around the internet the last year or so.
I would think that maybe some these people know a little more about what's going on at the UN than you or I do from looking at the UN website.
Here is the NRA-ILA's take on the subject:
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=7004
It looks like the NRA has enough Senators on board to defeat anything that would infringe on our rights.
