Can't deny the sexiness of wood on the kahrs. Love to try a set but I don't want the bulk that they bring. Thinking about get a set of factory smooth and sanding them down but I'm not sure if they will hold up if they are much thinner. Has anyone done this and have pictures? I've made a few wood grips from scratch and a few out of aluminum for other pistols so I have dabbed in it a little.

I think they would hold up fine myself. I've made a few from scratch and the way they are fitted on the back of the frame there's plenty of wood for strength.

The mounting screws are deeply recessed so alot could be removed without messing with the mounting attachments.

Anyone that wants to order from the kahr shop but wants them thinner I can sure do that for you. Order smooth for sure. If you want them checkered I can do that after we thin them down some. Inlays, whatever, like Disneyland, never done as long as there is imagination left in the world.
Make sure they fit your gun properly and send em to me along with the purchase price so I know what it will cost if I screw em up.
Money makes me worry big.

Hum a few bars and I'll try to sing along.

Seriously (well I don't do serious) but what the heck is Hello Kitty checkering?

I have no idea.

Well heck, I'm your guy. Having no idea is my specialty. It's a borderline forte for me. What are the odds. Send the kitty and I'll do a little Hello on it.

I'm sure you could pull it off, if we find out what 'it' is.

You can take a trademarked item like the Hello Kitty, and change 3 major points, call it something different, like Howdy kitty, and have a completely legal item on your hands. A friend that works in signs told me thats how people get away with copyright infringement. BTW, that may qualify as one of the ugliest guns I've ever seen.

oooooooh nice work Bawanna! I like thin grips like those. I've always been amazed by people who can checker grips like that. Just thinking about the process hurts my head. I'd go through 1000 blocks of wood before I ended up with some as uniform as those.

Thanks kindly Bug Splat. You look at it in little pieces a line at a time and it's not so hurtful to the head. I've gone thru a few blocks of wood, that's for sure. It's like it finally clicks and you have an aha moment and after that it's much easier.
Still takes patience, not one of my finer attributes and when your mind ain't right leave the checkering tools alone, especially if your checkering grandpa's 497 Whistlepoop magnum from the Civil War.
