We used cap guns in the front yard. Police were never called.
Big departure from these days when shaping a piece of toast like a gun can get you kicked out of school.
I hauled a captured WW2 “bringback “BAR “ Like this one below to play Army around our St. Louis neighborhood in the mid-1950s, and nobody complained or gave it a second look.

Yes he did, we never missed an episode and played army the next day after school as 10 year old boys, Sgt. Saunders, Kirby, Littlejohn and Doc saved the world from the Krauts and were our hero’s…….To my knowledge none of us grew to be criminals……
Sad ending for Vic Morrow considering how many of us he entertained in our wonder years.
