Welcome Tony. For some reason in my youth I always has a longing to move to Australia, not sure where the urge came from but it lasted many many years.
After the big gun confiscation down under the urge pretty much went away.
Still sounds like an interesting place.
We had an exchange student from Australia for a short period, nice guy, loved to listen to him talk.
I thought it was hard to own guns in Australia now.
You just have a whole bunch of hoops to jump through, belong to the right club who will support you to own semi automatic handguns and even semi automatic shotguns.

I'm a University of Texas Longhorn football (US) fan.
One of your Aussie mates has been a great addition to our team, an awesome fellow by the name of Michael Dickson. He just won the Ray Guy Award for being the best punter in the US (at the college level) this past season, and was the Longhorn's MVP in the Texas Bowl game, which "we" won with the help of his kicking. Also a consensus All-American.
He's going to get paid well in the NFL next year (professional level).
