How Many Handgun Competitions

So how many different handgun competition events are there? The truth be told, it is probably unlimited. Yes, there are the standard events that we will mention below. Some of you may have or may currently participate in them. But local gun ranges are using derivations of those events to come up with their own home grown events...sooo, we can say there are more handgun competitive events than we really know. We tend to think that the type of match we've competed in is the best. But how many of us have actually shot in at least one of each of the matches listed below? I am confident that not many. Some of us shoot for competition. Some shoot for fun; camaraderie... to socialize with old friends or just get out of the house with friends; use it as range time; to build accuracy or gun handling skills; to train for self defense; etc.... There are many reasons to participate in organized handgun shooting events. Here are some of the events you can look into, but please feel free to add some you are aware of which are not listed.
