Try another brand of (hotter) ammo, and see if that helps; maybe your rounds aren't hot enough for it (I know the Swanson blanks are super-hot).
I have the EZ Pull springs and nylon buffer in...
This is what I used on mine, and have never had an issue. One of my buddies used rivets, but they look kinda weird. ;)

That was probably my crew, the Camp Blanding Historical WW2 Museum. I usually work that event, manning the tables and doing the blank firing demo (when the park allows them to have it)...I had other...
That is a beaut!
Rob
Be prepared to drop between 10,000 and 30,000 USD for a full-auto (depending on make and model, of course....) ;)
Rob
That is pretty cool...thanks for posting it, Story.
Rob
You need to get yourself one of those aluminum foil hats, Dave, when dealing with the "mothership", lol. ;)
Rob
Beautiful weapons, B....but, you've just GOT to do the SBR conversion, though! :D
Rob
I have heard that some guys weld up the catch hole to use in GI catch guns, but that's a lot of concentrated heat on the thin magazine metal. It's easier, if you want to go that route, to mod the...
That's the way I figured it, too, so I gave them a shot (no pun intended ;))...so far, so good. I kept my old buffer and springs, just to be safe. :)
Rob
No problem, B-man...it's all good; I spend most of my life at odds with other people's wisdom, so I know where you're shootin' from. :D
Maybe I typed that wrong: I didn't mean to imply that Kahr...
I've got a tutorial over on http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/, Dave, with photos of how I did mine.
Rob
It's your call, Dave, but I wouldn't touch the aluminum receiver; I've heard nothing but trouble about those, about everything from the exterior finish, to the poor long-term performance.
I think...
Dave,
I'm not a Thompson engineer, lol, but I think the springs you replace are the recoil springs, per se, but the kit comes with a nylon 'buffer' that absorbs all the shock, and doesn't transmit...
Sorry to hear of your woes, Dave....but Kahr will fix you up right; my M1A1 has never given me any troubles (I think I may have had one stovepipe in all the years I've owned it).
Get yourself some...
Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble, Dan...let us know what happens.
Rob
I was going to accuse you of being one, B, but decided I would wait, and do it later. :D
Rob
Not me...but, I keep a spare extractor in the butt of my gun, just in case.
Rob
Here's a few pics of the kit:

Lol...'slacking' is my middle name, B! :D
Yeah, I let my kids live at home, too...the world's a tough and expensive place as it is for us older ones, so I try to make it as easy a transition as I...
I'm still here...just working all the time, trying to put the kids through school; one bright note, is my oldest just got his first job as a cop...looks like he'll start pulling his own weight around...
Sent one back, Joe. ;)
Rob
Hey, B...I'm still here. ;) I got a new job, so it's keeping me busy and off the web more than I used to be...but, since it's providing me with more fun-bucks to deal with in the end, I hope to pick...
Good for you, B....I had to tweak mine about 3 times until I had taken enough metal off to make it latch securely....a lot of in-and-out, but it's the safest way.
I have some buddies who tried...
