Thread: MK9 blue slide?

    Default MK9 blue slide?

Hello everyone, first post here, thanks for having me!

I never knew the firearm Kahr until about a month ago and I have been very pleased with all the positive feed back I have read about these guns. I'm 100% sure this is my next gun, the only question I have tonight is I have found a used MK9 online, no pictures as of yet, the seller states "stainless bottom and blue slide" I done a search and have not found one of this two tone. I'm waiting on pictures as I post this, just wondering if Kahr has made one like this?

I will update with more info once I get all the details, thanks for looking and any help you can give.

Welcome to both of you. If I hadn't seen your picture I would not have believed it was true, never seen one before myself. Nice looking, I love the duo tone look either way.
I originally assumed it would be the old blued slide and blackened stainless frame which is what I believe my K40 was originally.

ask for the serial number and then go to this site on the kahr tech section about the first or so sticky down and look up the serial number and date of mfg-er. Some time back kahr made some carbon steel blued slides and then finally went to all stainless and the only option then was the DLC darkened finsih which is not a blued finish.it is about like glocks tennifer finish, extremely hard, I also know that sometime about ayear ago, kahr had some new carbon steel slides in inventory and I can't remember which models it was for either but the decided to use them up and offer them as a blued steel slide at a reduced price. Same warranty also. Date of mfg. will tell you and us alot more about this MK9.

Major Dude has done some nice front stippling on the MK9 he has.

I couldn't tell if that was stippling or skateboard tape. Whatever it is I want it on mine. It looks awesome and has to be great for grip.
Weird, I look at it once and I say tape, I look again and I think stippling. I really can't tell for sure.
Help me MajorDude, I just gotta know.

I think our right, it looks like tape, even nicer, no real expense involved that way...

It's skateboard tape! I had to go into a gnarly skateboarder store to find it. Between that, the Pearce grip extensions and the Kahr/Hogues, it really stays in your hand. The MKBOX was a lower cost model that was available for a brief while. jocko may be right about using up blued steel slides although I have never heard that before. It makes sense, I don't think they made too many. I was lucky enough to find this one at a great price used at a local dealer. The blue is starting to wear a bit, but I didn't buy this one to look at. I carry it in a MTAC and hardly know it's there.

Its a great looking gun and looking again it has just the right amount of wear to give it some character. I'm gonna be a copy cat and apply a little skateboard tape myself. My frame is black so it won't look near as cool but I just love a rough front strap. I'd love to get my Para checkered on the front strap but other priorities for the disposable income, like I know what that is.

I feel your pain! My disposable income is at an all time low right now. I have really enjoyed that skateboard tape as a cheap alternative, really grippy but not too sharp. It's held up well too. I trimmed it out with an Xacto knife and found that if I rounded the top edge with scissors a little it looked better. Took me a couple of tries to get it right, but I bought a chunk of it and it's enough to do the whole arsenal if I had the need.

On a side note, I have been very pleased with the reliability of my MK9, contrary to a lot of posts I have read here and elsewhere. I have shot a bunch of handloads with inexpensive Rainier plated lead bullets without any problems. I prefer shooting the lighter weights, but it has fed everything I've put through it. I bought it used so I don't know the round count, but somebody must have broken it in right. It seems to shoot a little high and left, but it's minute of pie plate at 25 yards and that's good enough for me.
