Thumbs up Online Ammo Sellers' List ** Share Your Finds!

I'm pasting some of my sources for POSSIBLE good deals... they vary on the sellers' sales prices, etc.

I haven't looked locally. You can find LE-type 50-round boxes of Duty ammo at gun shows and online. The Speer Gold Dot Short-Barrel version is only available in 20-round boxes at $1 to $2 a bullet, depending on the seller. That stuff is usually marked up a lot. I try to get the short barrel version for as close to $20 a box as I can. The LE/Duty Speer Gold Dot ammo can be found for about $27, give or take a few bucks, or more... online. You have to search and see who has what you want and the best prices, including shipping and no tax. Some sellers only sell to LE or military... active or retired.

Sometimes you hear of good deals here on the forum. I try to pass along any deals I find, but have found some good buys mentioned here.

From time to time, Cabela's has $20 off coupons or Free shipping on orders over $99 or $150... varies. Sometimes they do that and have stuff on sale or clearance, too. When I can meet all of my objectives on good deals.

If you're buying a case, or half a case, or just enough to meet the dollar limit, you can get free shipping or better.

When I buy defense ammo, I buy the Duty stuff in 50-round boxes for the range and longer barreled guns, and the Short Barrel version for CCW.

Here are some online sellers. The prices vary and are not always bargains, but some place to start. They are not in any order... cheapest or whatever. I've used ammoengine, but they aren't very inclusive or exhaustive... leaving a lot to be desired.

This is not by any means a complete list. You can Google or search for the ammo you want. It takes time to find what you want at the price you want, but it's a place to start.

Save your own bookmarks and "join" their news letters or deal alerts, too.

    Something else to consider:

This is a great place to research all Kahrs and the ammunition tested in them by experts in the field:

    http://www.kahr.com/product-reviews.asp

You can read their views and see what ammo they tested and how the various kinds compared with velocity and accuracy. Some even include penetration and expansion results. You don't always have to try to "re-invent the wheel" to find an acceptable range or defense ammo for your Kahr.

We can add our favorite online places and deals here and keep this thread alive doing so.

Very timely. My computer was infected a short while ago with a virus that penetrated my Kaspersky defenses and messed up all of my bookmarks. I had hundreds of ammo and gun references and info stored... all lost to the ether of electron zombie land. I'll start here to begin building my lists again.

I know what you mean. The site software change here lost me most of my bookmarks and now there are probably close to 100 "dead" link... the "404" type.

Some of these I've never used and some I didn't list... Kiesler, for one... ammo prices there are not listed and they say email for prices... on each item... like going to a store or garage sale that doesn't have prices on every item, especially the ones you're interested in. "How much is this?" "How much is this?" "How much is this?" ad infinitum! I have an idea of prices and I don't want a price made up on the spot or to be asking for every danged price! I just leave!

Some of those places I may not have bought anything, or just found a good deal one time, but you don't know until you look... and things are always changing... prices and availability.

I was pretty happy with my recent order from LuckyGunner.com paid about $240 for 1000 rounds of Federal American Eagle delivered to my doorstep. Shipped pretty quick too, took less than a week. The only down side is they put me on their email list now, but that seems pretty standard for anything you buy online anymore and there are worse things.

I also liked that they have a video of their guy demoing each round. You get to see how accurate each bullet is in real life which is important to me. It helped me decide to go with American Eagle, and I'm glad I did. My Glock 17 @7 yards makes one hole the size of a quarter with the stuff can't say the same for WWB or Federal Champion.

Quite often you can find Magazine tests of your favorite pistol and they will post ammo tests with FPS and accuracy comparisons using a benchrest or a machine rest. Those can help you start looking for your own favorite. Kahr.com had that info... but I haven't looked lately to see where that stuff is posted... archives of gun reviews.

I've been able to get a couple of case-lot deals on GunBroker.com...be careful on the shipping fees, however.

Well, I checked all of the above links and wound up buying a case of .45 ACP Blazer Aluminum-cased ammo at $13.99 a box of 50 X 20 = $279.80 + $26 shipping by UPS = $305.80. This is $6 more than the brass-cased S&B I paid for a case from Cabela's with free shipping. Not bad, though. I regretted not getting more on that deal but it was over Christmas and backordered. That deal died quickly and this was the best I could find.

    Thanks, rjt23 for the link!

Yeah, it's tough to beat a free-shipping deal. And thanks for all of your links as well....saved 'em for future reference.

The deals come and the deals go. You have to chance on one and be ready to pounce... credit card or whatever! I've gotten many leads on here and I hope this helps others.

I got this one up to check out and then checked everywhere else. I signed up for their newsletter, too. I was worried at first that it was in Florida... not... no tax!

My son's coming in a week or so and I know that we'll shoot a lot of .45 FMJ. I'm sure that he'll like the XD45 with those 13-round magazines!
