Default Kahr K40 Covert - Mirror Polish with Wood Grips (Twin Cities, MN)

It kills me to sell this, but I've decided that 9mm is the round for me, so I am selling off my last gun chambered in .40 S&W to raise money for 9mm variants.

This gun started off life as a regular Kahr K40 Covert, with a matte finish and standard black plastic grips. I spent somewhere between 20 and 40 hours removing machining marks, sanding and polishing so that the finish would be nearly mirror-perfect. I had the factory standard sights removed so that I could get the top of the slide nice and flat.

I am proud of how the gun turned out, and call it my K40 Covert "Elite." Both the slide and frame have been polished, although there are a few machining marks that I was unable to remove in the frame. I also polished the slide-stop lever. Based on pictures that I have seen, the polish-job I have done to this pistol surpasses the Kahr Elite models. The addition of Kahr wood grips really makes for a classy look, and they feel better when gripping the gun.

The gun currently has no sights installed on it, as I have been undecided about which night sights I wanted. I am including a set of factory sights should the new owner decide to install those. The recent purchase of a K40 with a faulty recoil spring had me swapping it out for the good one in this gun, so it will need an $8 spring from Kahr.

3 magazines are included - one flush-mount with a Pearce grip extension, and two extended mags, although one of them fails to lock the slide back. The nub that pushes up the slide stop lever appears to be faulty (Kahr mags are like $50 a pop).

This gun conceals exceptionally well, with the shorter grip of the MK series, but the longer sight radius of the K series. The plastic box and original paperwork are included as well. I would prefer to sell this locally (Twin Cities, MN), but may consider shipping it on the buyer's dime. I am asking $700 for this high-quality firearm. I would consider trades for a Kahr MK9, Springfield EMP 9 or Sig Sauer P226 X5 or P226ST (I can add cash as necessary).

I do my very best to accurately represent anything and everything I sell. I want prospective owners to have zero surprises when they receive it, and hope that they would find the item to be in better condition than represented; I prefer to err on the side of caution. I am happy to answer any questions and provide any pictures, just ask.

    Now, onto the good stuff...

That's a pretty piece, personally I want a K40 that looks like that. I just like the longer grip (I have large paws).
Attitude: it takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile...and 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

i keep returning to this listing... I'm in the peoples' republic of california. The ca doj listing shows that these k40 models are a-ok to bring in

    K4043A / Stainless Steel Pistol 3.5" .40 S&W 2/26/2011K4043NA / Stainless Steel Pistol 3.5" .40 S&W 2/26/2011K4048A / Stainless Steel Pistol 3.5" .40 S&W 4/4/2011K4048NA / Stainless Steel Pistol 3.5" .40 S&W 4/4/2011
Can you confirm the model number on this k40? Of course if it all works out, i'd pay shipping.

    thanks in advance

Hi Scott, I'm not sure how the Covert model fits into Kahrs lineup, as they no longer make it. Does CA allow the MK40's? If so, then I can't imagine there would be an issue, but if there is then we are in a gray area. Is there a way I can check on that easily?

I'll send you a PM here shortly...

Hi Aaron, send a PM and we'll take it up on email. But for the edification of the list, I'll tell you that a) the mk40 is available here, but b) the one FFL i spoke to said that it must be the exact model number as on the approved list. I imagine - and i've sent an email to kahr to ask them - that their certification in CA for this handgun lapsed when they stopped making it.
