Thread: My first BFR

    Default My first BFR

Long ago I started appreciating shorter revolver barrels and have been looking at BFR .44's but it appears as if the few that are made for dealers are snapped up right away. So I camped out on a gun sale site and no fewer than THREE dealers had six 5.5" barrel models in stock. The dealer I got it from had the Bisley frame with white grips.

So, I hit the BUY button and it came in today.

Delighted is putting it mildly finding it's actually a 4 1/2" barrel despite the box saying it's 5 1/2"! It seems like somewhere along the line someone is having problems measuring barrel lengths at MR? :-) Anyway, I have a Freedom Arms model 353 (.357) and model 97 (17HMR) and this BFR takes a back seat to neither.

You measured to the front of the cylinder or the front of the frame? 5 1/2'' is pretty common, 4 1/2'' is not so much.

From the front of the cylinder like all revolvers and the ERH is about 1/16" short of the muzzle. I was STUNNED to see it and wondered how it could happen? Maybe a special order got cancelled and re-routed? Dunno but whatever happened to get in my hands I'm very happy.

I just checked the Customize your BFR page and the shortest bbl offered is 5"??? If I press the measure against the front of the cylinder I get 4 and 9/16"

    Nice pistol.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
