The Perils of Open Carry...
Another point of view... most points I've mentioned myself.
I'm not really trying to start another discussion... just post a link.

Totally agree.......................in my state, it's been legal to open carry for ever........except for small towns, where they know the local LE, not many choose to open carry. We don't feel like being face planted on the concrete. A damn shame really............it's much more comfortable to open carry.
Great link ,Thanks for posting it.
" In God We Trust" I love my Country its the Government that I fear.
Gun control isn't about guns, Its about Control.:32:
Agree with all points. Proper weapon retention is a subject 99.99999% of concealed and open carriers are IGNORANT of and need proper training. Most LEO's receive initial retention training and some like my dept. get ongoing training. Here in OK OC was recently passed to much hoopla and fanfare. I have only seen 2 folks OC since then.

Open carry is a bad idea even in places where it is legal, yet there are those people that demand the right to do it, and then open carry because it is their "right" to do it. These people just make it harder for the rest of us. It has been legal in my state for a hundred years, but it draws too much attention and causes people to look at you as if you were the criminal. It's not worth the trouble.

A Kahr, a Glock, a Ruger, two Brownings, two Remingtons, and a Crossman.
pros:
easy to dress around.
more comfortable.
allows for the inadvertent "flash" of an open jacket or printing for the concealed carrier.
cons:
screams "shoot me first".
most have little or no gun take-away defense training.
most use holsters (and belts) poorly or not designed to help with gun take-away defense.
draws unwanted attention (unless attention whoring is fashionable).
commonly done by clowns who taint the image of descent folks.
no matter your feelings on the issue, these (above) are truths.
I hate being bi-polar, its awsome!
I wonder why he didn't mention the times it has proven a deterrent to criminal endeavour?
A person who thinks he is concealed but who simply has a thin shirt hanging over his handgun can have it taken just as easily and yet I see no mention of that.
I think some people give most criminals far to much credit in the brain department.
nice post Wyn

I open carry quite often...
when I'm out in the woods. In town, never.
