    Default Federal Aluminum 45acp Ammo

    Hi,

Have any of you PM45 / CM45 owners tried the Federal aluminum 230 grain ball ammo?
just wondering how it performs in the Kahr since they can be ammo picky. I hear the aluminum
expands and may not extract properly.

    thanks
    Dan

My local Walmart recently had Federal aluminum in 115 grain 9mm. I've shot more than 400 rounds without a single problem. I bet the .45 would work just fine.

God created brass for a reason.

Precisely. I have not tried this particular ammo but aluminum cased stuff in the past I have used was iffy. Too me it is not worth the potential downside.

I haven't tried the Federal stuff either but I have fired thousands of rounds of Blazer aluminum and the only problem I ever had with it was in a 9mm Firestar that I had years ago. It would occasionally have a FTF with aluminum cases. I don't reload handgun ammo, so if the price is right I would give it a shot.

At less than $200 per 1000, I was happy to find it. I use this stuff when taking courses, when I might not be able to retrieve my brass for reloading.

Amen, Muggsy. I never use anything but brass, even in my cheapest guns.

Just last week i noticed this in my local Wal-Mart they had 9-.40&.45, I think the price worked out that you could get 100rds of the aluminum for close to the price of 50rds of federal brass.
quantity of ammo will always catch my eye when going to the range.

I'll look for it. I'm sure it'll work well in at least one of my beloved .45s.
