Trying to think "why" for the 9mm revolver.

Only thing I can come up with is that some PD someplace wanted revolvers for the officers that, for whatever reason, could not handle the 9mm automatics that were issued. That could be officers lacking strength to rack the slide, or recharge a magazine, manipulate a safety, whatever....

Or, it could have been a training thing, whereby, officers already very familiar and good with revolvers could opt to the 9mm revolver. I can imagine certain, perhaps longtime, detectives and such, wanting to do that.

Could also be public awareness - where they just wanted certain officers to be equipped with revolvers "just becasue" the public expected the officers to be so equipped.

Keeping in mind that policing is as much, or more, a political job as opposed to a crime fighting job.... ya know... ya never can tell

that's a beauty. but--- how much shorter would it be if the cylinder and frame were built for a 9mm round? I'm thinking Ruger could build a smaller, lighter(unobtainium alloy and carbon fiber plastic) version of the LCRx in 9mm. (9mm is my favorite round, based on power and price). (all guns are just tools and tool junkies need a lot of them, all shapes and sizes. some days I like to shoot a revolver, other days a semi-auto is the choice.) why do gun manufacturers list empty gun weight? anybody carry empty? .380=.34oz., 9mm= .42oz., 38spl.= .46oz., .357= .57oz., .45acp= .75oz. approx. weights by caliber.

If they make the barrels any shorter, you might as well learn to throw rocks. Maybe, they could make the cylinder a slight bit shorter, I think that firearms today are about as light and small, as they'll ever get.

they list the 9mm as weighing 17.2 oz., the same as the .357. the .38spl weighs 13.5 oz. guess they're expecting people to use 9mm+P+ ?
(I just got a CM9 and I'm loving it. great little gun. surprised to find I shoot it as good as bigger brother, CW9.)

I believe Ruger now has a 9mm in their plastic revolver. I would bet my CM9 has a better trigger and holds more ammo and is thinner and is more accurate and has less muzzle rise.
