Practice point shooting or instinctive shooting . Same thing . Under very low light conditions or high stress you may never see the sights . Under very dark conditions if you focus on the front sight you may never see the BG too. So it good to practice shooting at arms reach to 10 yards over time not focusing on the sights.

I want to replace the front sight, and I think the Dawson Precision ones are probably as good as any... but I am confused as to which one to get: https://www.dawsonprecision.com/Prod...7B7-1388518379

Why are there different heights? I just want something that is the same as the existing front sight, but not invisible in low light. Which one should I choose for that?

The different heights allow for elevation correction. You can measure your existing front sight to verify, but I believe you'll find it's around .175
Dawson's .180 is close to that, but it could move the point of impact down a little from where it is with the stock sights.

    Greg

Edit: I was able to find a taken off CW front sight and, after cleaning up the remains of the two posts, found it measured .180" tall and .140" wide

Hmm, I'm not looking to have to re-learn how to shoot my Kahr, rather just looking for a replacement sight that is the same in height that I have now, just easier to see in the dark.

I don't own a set of calipers unfortunately so can not check. Anyone here have a set to measure?

My CM9 front sight is .170 tall.

Hmm, seems they're all out of stock at the moment anyhow.

So, I'm just concerned with throwing off the point of aim too much.

If I get the front sights ( http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Produ...7B7-1388518379 ) and the rear sights ( http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Produ...7AE-1388518379 ), what sizes should I get to ensure that I don't have to relearn how to shoot this thing? I mean, this isn't a tack-drivin' gun anyhow, but still. Trying to not have throw off my aim.

Would the 190T/.125N rear sight be a good match for the 180T/.125W front sight? I assume the second number on the rear sight is the size of the opening/slot/notch/whatever, correct?

Just installed a set of Trijicon night sights I bought from Kahr. Have been pleased so far.

Waiting for my CM9 to come back from repair, I bought a Taurus G2c .......just because. I put Dawson FO sights on it and like them very much, so I am finally going to replace my front sight when I get my CM9 back. I go to Dawson and see there is no FRONT CM9 sight only for sale. There is a kit and it shows a front FO sight as 180T x 125W. I like the Bar/dot sight arrangement and do not want to change the rear sight. Now for the CW9, there is a FRONT sight only for sale and it is the same height and width as the front sight in the CM9 front and rear package. Before I order...will that CW9 sight work on my CM9?
