A state senator in Missouri, identified as Jamilah Nasheed, has been arrested at a protest in Ferguson, Missouri.
Nasheed has sponsored anti-gun bills in the past and has voted against pro-gun bills in Missouri over the last couple of years.
According to KMOV,
Sources also told News 4 Ferguson police requested St. Ann to administer a breathalyzer test at the time of her arrest because she “smelled strongly of intoxicants,” but Nasheed refused to do so. Nasheed said Tuesday she was not intoxicated at the time.Nasheed holds a valid carry permit for the state of Missouri.
Nasheed was formally charged with Failure to Obey Lawful Order of Police and Manner of Walking in the Roadway. She was released from St. Ann jail before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
“It was a symbolic arrest – sending a message to the protesters that we can protest peacefully and that we must protest peacefully and that we want justice for Michael Brown, but we don’t want it in vain,” Nasheed said outside the jail Tuesday morning.
KMOV posted an update to the story on their Facebook page this afternoon stating the following, “Police tell News 4 tonight that they believe Sen. Jamilah Nasheed was intoxicated on top of carrying a loaded handgun when arrested last night during the protests in Ferguson.”
More hypocrisy from the anti-gun left?
