Just be damn sure we have no mention of Christians, Christmas Trees or the Ten Commandments anywhere on campus....

Nothing good like that ever happens to me.

My kids are all out now so guess I won't get anymore opportunities.

My kids teachers and school staff did know me well over the years, sometimes for good and sometimes for just being myself.

I say good for him for having the stones to stand up to the school on the issue.....Crap like this is why if you have school age children even if you have to scrape by and do without some things in order to send them to Private School it's worth every cent to keep them out of Government Leftist Socialist Indoctrination Camp which is what Public Education has become.......

This Political Correctness is getting way out of hand. We all need to get some stones to straighten this BS out before we are out numbered.

I fear we're much too late. We have to eliminate a bunch of them or reproduce like rabbits in our own image to get our numbers back up.

Personally I lean toward thinning the herd myself.

How did Muslim conquerors treat those whom they conquered? IMO, the correct answer is: With beheadings, crucifixion, firing squads, dismemberment, and torture. Compared to Muslims, being an Apache prisoner was a piece of cake.

Okay, sorry to be "that guy", but Muslim Spain, for instance, was a pretty tolerant place. It was replaced by the Spanish Inquisition. Plenty of blood on Christian hands.

What is the real issue here? That saying nice things about the world's second largest religion is a bad idea? Or that a parent should be able to make threats when they disagree with a history, language, health or gym class lesson?

Does anyone here know ANY Muslims? 1.6 billion of them, and only 20% even live in the Middle East.

This ends up just sounding like people objecting to integration 50 years ago. You don't have to be "PC" to decide to not be a racist.

I think it boils down to the fact that public schools shouldn't be teaching anything about any religious faith at all, good or bad....If Christianity is mentioned in public school then the ACLU and the atheists go bonkers and start filing lawsuits to have any mention of the subject immediatly halted.....The father said in the article that he didn't threaten anyone at the school and has witnesses to corroborate that statement and that he only wanted the history class to stop teaching about religion period....

Bottom line is that in the year 2014 I haven't seen many stories about Christians, Catholics Hindus or Buddhists beheading anyone because they were not of the same faith and beliefs and to have a high school history test ask a question like: "How did Muslim conquerors treat those they conquered" with a correct answer of "With Tolerance, Kindness and Respect is a load of PC horse hockey....This is just another example of how Government Schools are twisting history and corrupting the minds of our children with their PC garbage.....

That's baloney. The ACLU fully endorses teaching the history of religions in public schools, and doesn't file lawsuits for doing so.

The first amendment is about government neither advocating nor preventing religious faith or practices. Why is it that gun people, who talk ad nauseam about the Bill of Rights, can't read it?

The most ridiculous part of any of this lesson is that "conquering" is not a tolerant or respectful activity. But I can certainly understand pointing out that Islam is a historically tolerant religion when every half-educated red neck thinks that a tiny group like ISIS represents the entirety of Islam.

And you don't have to go back more than 10 years to find Christians committing mass atrocities in the Balkans, or an American Christian church that protests US servicemen's deaths, or US Christian extremists killing doctors. I guess we have to just hope that when Buddhists are studying Christians, that behavior isn't what they think is normal.
