I guess all the damned hoarders' basements are full, thank goodness. There's a local who put over $50k into inventory, a few thousand at a time. He bought out a whole truckload at Cabella's in 2008 when the prez was elected, as a speculative investment.
Hey....my basement is full, but I just saw this coming and stocked up well in advance....22 and everything else. Haven't bought any ammunition in years...don't blame me for lack of foresight.

Fair enough. No worse than a bank gobbling up stocks and commodities ahead of market changes.
Good shape on .22. Figured out Wally World's schedule.
I've noticed the .22 market loosening up some. There's an LGS nearby who sells bricks as low as $29.95 sometimes (limit one box). My stockpile recently turned the corner and has been growing again. The one box limit doesn't bother me since I'm not real excited about dropping $30 for a brick... but I'll do it occasionally just to assure I don't run out.

I shoot about 100-150 rounds of .22 each week during my weekly range trip. I like to keep a stash of about 2500-3000 rounds. I have had good luck with Cabela's Online, and places like Midway. With Cabela's, you need to check the site several times a day, and when they have it you need place your order right away because it will be sold out very quickly. I subscribe to a thread on the Smith & Wesson Forum where guys post in-stock .22 and where they found it. I have found plenty of .22 this way online. Federal Automatch bulk seems to be available these days which is great because my M&P .22 pistol really likes it. I like to use Cabela's and Midway because their shipping charges are very reasonable and the ammo prices are reasonable as well. I figure the shipping charges offset the gas I would burn by running around to all the Walmarts in the area on the off chance I can find a brick that hasn't already been snapped up by all the old-fart (I'm only 64 so I'm not an old fart) ammo flippers that have been waiting on line since 4 in the morning...

I've had good luck after nearly running out. Academy online had 325 Federal for $26 including shipping. 7.5 cents per round which ain't the good old days but it'll have to do. One box at a time and I never could get it two days in a row. I did get 2 boxes and then Wally had a weekend special with leftovers. CCI 100 round target 40 gr. also $.075.
I have had better luck with .45 ACP and since I have a Ruger P345 and now a PM45 I use a lot more of that in practice. .45 is now plentiful altho it costs $.40 a round vs. $.31 when I started.
I just hope CCI starts being available. None of my 22's like Federal and Remington is rarely available.
