Default Magazine bases, extended sleeves, and other plastic bits for Kahrs

JohnR got me going to design a sleeve to use with an 8 round magazine in a 6 round Kahr, like the PM9 or CM9. I had already designed one for a use with a magazine that was just 1 round larger, like a 7 rounder in a PM9, MK9, CM9 or an 8 round in a P9, CW9, K9, etc.

So I stretched it a bit for him. In finding a place for him to get parts, I found Shapeways to print it for a reasonable cost. So, I decided to put a couple of the base plates and extension sleeves on there and make them available to anyone who wants them.

Here is a link to the parts: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/lakelinellc

The printed parts are not as smooth as a machined or molded part. If you want to get them smooth, I will add a comment on how you can smooth them up. For magazine sleeves however, the texture is not such a bad thing as far as grip is concerned.

This link is pretty good on how to get a good finish on printed parts although I generally use them as is: https://www.fictiv.com/resources/starter/ultimate-guide-to-finishing-3d-printed-parts

    Alphonse,
What the difference between the $6.99 9mm base plate and the $8.99 9mm base plate on the website other than the $2.00 ? A curious mind wants to know.

The $6.99 plate is compatible with the sleeves. It is minimally sized. The other one is the same size as the grip, even down the sides where it is wider. It also has a turned up lip on the front for a bit of additional grip. How do you like all the color options? They are even available in metal.

The part is available in a bunch of colors in nylon. FYI, here is a rendering of the larger base plate, that does not work in the extension sleeves, in Rhodium plated steel (it is also available in Polished nickel steel and matte black steel):

Maybe I should do an episode of "Pimp my Kahr."

Alfonse, I'm impressed and I'm not the kind of guy who is easily impressed. I think that you've got a very good thing going here.

I'm going to have to send this to my mother.
    Sincerely, thanks.

Objectively, a rendering is not that representative of the actual part. Pretty picture though.

There are photos of the black nylon version. I don't order every version of each part. The polished parts are smoothed and polished, and externally look pretty much like the rendering.

Where do we buy the metal versions? I just ordered your followers and the shapeways black stuff, but didn't see an option for metal base parts (just metallic plastic). Thanks!
