Default Think I might have a CM45 heading my way!

If I get lucky enough to get it, what do I need to look out for? Any major problems or pesky quirks out of the box problems? Will definitely be getting a couple of magazine followers from lakeline. Will be polishing the ramp and chamber. Hopefully that will do it, or did I miss any other problems people have been having?

    Thanks!

Just make sure you can clear un-fired rounds. I think some of the early ones (mine too) needed some tweaks to the barrel or the un-fired rounds would jam in the ejection port. There's threads on here with the easy fix.

Enjoy it. It's been my carry thru most of the winter.

    a. out of the box problems - none. The PM45 may give manual extraction issues with some bullet shapes and lengths, and there is a cut made in the slide to help with that. I suppose the extractor may also be to blame in some cases, but... I think you'll find that clearing a loaded round from the chamber will have a knack to it, and the nose will rub the edge of the slide's ejection port.

    b. Lakeline followers are nice, but not required. Shoot it "stock" for a few boxes, then start to customize once you know its running well

    c. Chamber and ramp come polished, you cannot do better than they already are

    d. other problems (or issues). Shoot the hottest stuff you can get your hands on for "break in". Avoid low power factory ammo like WWB and other "bargain/target" factory ammo until you've got things limbered up some. You "may" get empties coming back toward you until that recoil spring takes a nice set. Locking back the slide has NO EFFECT on the spring's set. Only usage will do that. Read the FAQ's for fluff and buff... and shoot the fokker like you stole it

I still get whacked in the head occasionally with an ejected shell from my cm45 after 500-600 rounds put through it. No scars yet! I think it depends on how I hold it. Firm grip, less abuse.

CJB's advice looks good to me. My CM45 needed nothing special. WWB, Fed, Rem, and even TulAmmo Brass 230 gr RN's all ran fine, as did any defense loads I tried.

Good luck with the new CM45. I hope yours runs as well as mine.

Great news all, thanks. I thought Kahr only polished it's high end line and left the others alone. I also read about followers constantly breaking, but glad they fixed that problem also.

I'll let everyone know when the deal goes through and post pics!

    Thanks!

Here's a fix for the live round hanging on the barrel hood.

That's one thing Kahr did fix on my PM 40. I wish I'd photographed the grinder marks under the chamber hood before I polished them and they were more obvious. They also took the right rear corner off of it. Now it throws every casing over my right shoulder.
