    Yes, no, yes.

As Ed's post link said - The War For Southern Independence settled the secession question, although Texas was the only fully recognized independent nation to voluntarily join the Union.

But bear in mind, Texas does have the legal right by treaty with the USA to divide itself into 5 new separate states.

That would be almost like having 5 Jocko's. 5 States full of cowboys with big hats. I kind of like it myself, I already got the hat.

When my grandkids were still living in California, I asked them: In school, can you extend your forefinger, raise your thumb, point at another student, and say "Pow, pow, pow?" Their answer: "Nooo!" Funny, when I was growing up in California, my classmates and I did it all the time playing cowboys and Indians in the schoolyard. Just goes to show much things have changed in California since I was a boy and how deeply the liberals have infested the school systems. While my grandkids can't do that in school, they can play video war games at home which are much more realistic and mow down dozens of the enemy. If not for the video war games, the kids would have a far different view of life and the world as taught by their teachers. The kids have since moved to Arizona and I hope when they grow up, they will be nice to everyone while packing a concealed 1911. Speak softly but carry a big stick.

I have never seen such a stupid bunch as the residents in CA. Really don't know what they are trying to prove.

Some Californians are trying to prove that they are better than you in any way they can. It's a statewide affliction there that's practiced by some of the population. They are trying to prove that "As California goes, so goes the nation eventually." Not that they ARE better than the rest of the nation, they just think that way. One upmanship is very important to some of them. Lived there for 41 years and watched the State and it's people slowly change. Liberals like this and that's where they are moving to be among their own.

But I must add that not all California liberals behave this way nor do all conservatives "walk on water". There are good and bad on either side. It's just the fact that liberals "rule" in California so what they do is all the more apparent.

I remember when the California "Speaker of the Assembly" would shout down conservatives that were trying to advance options. This was during the 1980s when the Democrats first took power over the state government. The power grab took place slowly over about 20 years while the Republicans were napping. Yes, the people who called themselves Republican were mostly working very hard to get rich while ignoring politics.

I was one of them, working my butt off to establish a career while voting responsibly. All this time the Democrats were working with one goal: to make the Republican party irrelevant. This they did by any means possible, legal or not.

You all know the outcome, so let this be an example to you all. Get involved in your local and state politics or you will be made irrelevant too!

your post is true and important; however, IMHO its bigger than that now. The GOP has changed in the last 30 years.....some of it not for the better. How do you think Deukmejian would do today? See what I mean?
