    Default M1 First Range Test

I took the AO M1 out for it's first range run today. I cleaned and lubed it before I went, the rifle was loaded with lots of oil from the factory. I cleaned all that out and lightly lubed it. The temp was 25 degrees. I fired a total of 50 rounds of Armscore 110g and the rifle did very well, every round chambered, fires and ejected well. Only problem I have is the rear sight need's a windage adjustment, it shoots slightly to the right at 50 yards. By looking at the rear sight it looks windage adjustable by tapping it in it's dovetail, is this correct? The owners manual says nothing about adjusting the rear sight...? I'm very happy with the rifle and it's performance. It seems very stiff and seems like it will need more break-in to get it functioning smoothly. I'm going back tomorrow weather permitting with another 100 rounds and try again.

I believe your are correct. The rear sight is drift adjustable. Glad it's working well for you.

Thanks Bowanna. I gave the rear sight a slight wack with a brass punch and a small hammer and it moved in the direction I needed, should be good to go now. If it's still giving me problems I'll order one of the adjustable Kensights rear sights.

Are the AO M1s ok with any ol' 30-06, or are they like the originals and need "special food"?

This is an M1 Carbine so it's 30M1, not 30-06.

I don't think they make a Garand. Might be nice if they did.

I've added an M2 mag catch and plunger, recoil spring, and 4 new Korean mags. The new mags seem much better than the stock mag that came with the rifle, also they have last round hold open which I like. Waiting on an adjustable rear sight and new handguard, should be here this week. Sorry about the crappy picture, the only camera I have is my cell phone.

    Very nice.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
