Default Is this normal? Full upper slide movement....

I don't do video - so keep my horrible cell phone video in mind - I was dry firing the CW45 today and kept noticing that at the point of the "hammer" going forward, my front sight would drop about 1/4 dot circumference.
...hmmm maybe just me - repeat dry fire 20 or more times... each time at the point of breaking to ignite a round, the front sight drops.

    Horrible videos follows

I have tried as best as I can to keep the lower as steady as possible - all of the movement appears to be the slide / barrel assembly -

How old is that gun. Looks almost like it might have the short rail syndrome that Greg encountered quite awhile back.

Can you see if the front rails are engaged when it's in battery?

Your videos are good to go; I see what you asking about.
My first thought is that you might want to give this a read: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.p...968#post306968

I see we are of the same mind on this Bawanna, but you are seconds quicker on the draw than an old dog like myself

You guys are awesome, than you for the quick replies.
I fail the pinch test, my rails are visually too short as in the linked second picture.

Up in the air now as what to do. I have been wanting a PM9 or PM45 - so I could use it as trade bait for one of those, but NOT getting it fixed - passing it on to someone else.... just is not me.

You need to send that puppy back to the factory. They will replace that frame without question.

The CW is a great gun and in other instances they ran just fine even with the short rail but not good to leave it as is.

I know Greg was quite concerned that they not mess with anything they didn't have to when his went back.

I have a PM45 and if I found myself without it tomorrow I'd probably opt for the CW myself.

Don't put it out to pasture without some serious thought and don't put it out without getting fixed. It's the right thing to do.

I had a similar issue wtih my cw45. I picked it up after all the hype on youtube that the only difference between the CW and P series was a couple of MIM parts. That third vidio where the slide and frame move when pushed moves around drove me nuts. To me it was very poor quality control. The steel rail embedded in the fram just barely reached the corresponding channels in the slide. This plus the fact that I had every kind of failure you could think of gave me zero confidence. After a lot of tinkering and tweeking of various spring I was able to get it to shoot 100 rounds without an issue---then I got rid of it. I will never buy a C series again. All my P series work fine although my PM45 needed a new recoil spring assembly to get it to function with all the ammo I used. It worked great on some but not so on others. Now it spits everything out just like my p380 and PM9 have done since day one.

I have not seen that on my MK9.
