Do you have the stop in front of the barrel lug?

You need to be able to line up the slide stop lug with it's corresponding notch cut in the slide in order to drive the stop out. If you can do this, I'd say hold the slide in the proper position and have someone try tapping out the slide stop with a punch. Can you provide more information as to where the slide is with relationship with the frame and is the slide stop installed? A picture would help.

I think it is,the slide is about 1/4" behind the mark on the frame.

I had one brought to me not long ago with this same issue.
At Gregs suggestion I stuck a screwdriver up the mag well and gently pried the slide enough to move.

I took the back of the slide apart trying to get it loose which accomplished nothing.

It gets kind of wedged and the screwdriver broke it loose enough I could get the pin out. Then I had to pry just a bit before it popped loose to where I could get it all off and start over.

You, you, you mean there's two of us that are legends in our own minds?

Seriously after I got that officers gun apart after your screwdriver up the mag well, I was a honest to goodness hero around here.

Heck it must have lasted almost an hour too.
