Default What Do You Do For Spare Grips On A "GA" Serial Numbered MK9?

I own 2 MK9s both with GA Serial Numbers:
    GA051x and GA227x

Been reading that none of the current replacement grips will fit my early frame MK9s.

Any advice on what I can do to locate a set of spare grips for my MK9s?

If your patient I may make some in the future. I have a MK I can borrow at work. I assume your seeking wood replacements?

I keep telling myself I won't make anymore since they are kind of tough and time consuming but I just did some for my K9 and figured a couple better moves that helped some.

I don't want to commit at this point but I'll seriously make an effort. I'll post them up when the day comes.

I don't think the Lakeline grips fit the GA as I recall.

Several people have requested them so guess it's only right to make some.

If you could get a GC version next to a GA version and look at the part of the frame the upper screw goes into, you could tell if the only difference is the milled out section where the boss for the grips fits.

If it is, that would be a really easy thing for a gunsmith to mill into the early frame. Then, I believe, all the newer grips would fit. It would be worth looking everything over though, and I would also check the screw spacing too.

I'm pretty sure the screw spacing is the same. I've made several and sent them out, the holes were right but they didn't fit.
But again it's worth looking everything over to be sure.

Join the crowd.............I have an LTD serial#, and I have given up on finding or having made, anything that fits. Just have to take it as is. I think it's a fair trade off, because I think the older MK's are much better quality/built than the new ones..................................
