Default Membership in NRA's Golden Eagles

I just received a letter today from NRA stating that I had been nominated for membership in the Golden Eagles (at an annual dues of $200 of course).
Is this really something to feel priviledged to receive, and I have no idea what would have instigated this because I don't even donate to each and every one of NRA's money drives, or is it just another way of receiving more money each year?
How many on the Forum here received a letter like this, or to put it another way, has anyone not received one?

I don't know the facts regarding the Golden Eagles, and although I am a life member of the NRA, I have not received a letter like that.

For some reason, though, it suddenly put me in mind of a scene with young George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life"...

I got a letter like that last year. I think it's just a way of raising more cash. If you want to give more, send it to NRA-ILA instead, that's what I do.

I got the same letter, never heard of Golden Eagles. But the certificate looks cool, I might frame it and put it up in my office to make me look important.

The more you donate, the more they want.

I just made the last payment on my NRA Life Membership yesterday. I get at least a hundred emails a day wanting me to fill out some "survey" which always ends with a suggested contribution list and a credit card form.

I get hard copies in the mail, too.

I did break down this year... or this election, rather, and donate some money, but it's the same old story, they take that donation and hire more firms to solicit more money from you. At least that's creating jobs!
