    Default Broken Wood Grip

I've had these beautiful grips, purchased from Kahr, on my K9 Elite 03 for a little less than a year, and love them. However, yesterday while shooting at the range I heard and felt a *crack*. I looked down, and the left grip had cracked all the way through. All that was holding it on was the lower grip screw. I sent the pictures and a description to Kahr, asking for a replacement. I'll be interested in seeing their response. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else.

    On the pistol:

    After the *crack*:

Every grip makers nightmare. Being thin and straight grained it can happen.
I've spent hours making a set only to have them crack before I even get them hung on the gun.

The downfall of wood versus stabilized or some of the other stuff. I still prefer wood myself.

Hopefully they send you a replacement set that looks as good as those did.

Yes, there was, but the break occurred just past the end of it.

I run my steel inserts usually too far but in this case it might have saved the day.

Gorilla Glue, (wood grip's best friend), a damp sponge, tiny paint brush and a few rubber bands.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

Indeed, if Kahr doesn't make good.

Even if they do. Why not, unless Kahr wants the grip returned, which I would doubt.

Update: After a week with zero response to my emailed pictures, I called Kahr's sales number. I encountered a courteous but clueless young man who seemed to desperately want to help but had no clue how to do so. I patiently explained the situation, and he put me on hold several times as he consulted with his "supervisor".

After half an hour of this back-and-forth, the best possible solution (from my perspective) emerged. They emailed me a label to return the broken grips to them, and agreed to immediately ship out a new set without waiting to receive the old ones. It could have gone more smoothly, but couldn't have ended more satisfactorily.

Good result. Hope that is the end of the trouble.
