    http://www.magnumresearch.com/firearms/magnum-research-desert-eagle-1911-g-model.asp:
"The Desert Eagle 1911 single action models are available in three barrel lengths: 5.01”, 4.33” (bushingless) and 3.0” (bushingless). They are shipped with two magazines with extended base pads for positive magazine insertion. The frame is precision cast and machined from high quality steel (aluminum, 3.0” model) and the slide is machined from solid billets of steel then finished in a matte black or matte stainless. The Desert Eagle 1911 comes loaded with features that would cost extra from a custom gunsmith. Some of these features include high-ride beavertail grip safety, extended magazine release, aluminum trigger with an overtravel stop, stainless steel full-length guide rod, extended thumb safety, enlarged ejection port, beveled magazine well and G10 (black/grey) grips held in place by stainless steel hex screws. Series 70 configuration."

The G model I believe has a bushing but you don't really need a tool. The two smaller models are bushingless.

The bushing-less guns come with a take down tool (a bent paper clip will also work).

However, it is possible field strip them without the tool, but the slide is under tension when doing so and special consideration must be given to the spring and guide rod when removing or installing the top end. With tension on the slide, installing the slide stop merits a little more care as well.

I think the frame is made from cast and the slide is milled from solid block of steel.

That's disappointing. I met a Kahr rep at a recent event and he told me all DE 1911s were now shipping with knives. I also asked this question in a Kahr owners' FB group and someone who works for Magnum Research told me all 1911s should come with the knife. Have you tried calling Kahr to see if they will hook you up? It's a really nice knife.

No, I haven't tried calling Kahr yet, but I thing it's a longshot.
