    Hey jg rider,
It's obvious that you love horses so I'm going to recommend a book to you that you will LOVE…..the book includes a horse and guns!
The story is about a horse named "Reckless" who brought weapons to marines fighting in mountainous areas.

Just finished reading that myself. Actually he transported artillery shells mostly. During Korea. He was shipped back to the states and lived out his days at Camp Pendleton. He's buried there.

Great book, great read. I totally endorse the suggestion of my lovely cyber bride.
In Memory of Paul "Dietrich" Stines.
Dad: Say something nice to your cousin Shirley
Dietrich: For a fat girl you sure don't sweat much.
    Cue sound of Head slap.

    RIP Muggsy & TMan

    It's from 1966, so yes it's dated.
And so am I - LOL turning 61 early next year.
    Still love this movie.
Seems to get better every time I watch it
Born 1957 and grew up on Westerns and Kung Fu Theater
Guess that explains a lot about me...
Sidney Poitier was awesome. He really made that film IMHO

    Hi Bawanna & AIRret ,
I've known about Reckless for long time. She was of Mongolian breed out of a Thoroughbred dam. She was a small horse. There's a statue of her at Quantico. She had four fouls the last of which died at birth.

Horses have fantastic memories about what they learn. It may be second to an elephant.

I have this thing of finding out about the horses that actors ride in movies. Two horses of interest to me were Spike that Tom Selleck road in two movies Quigley & Last Stand at Saber River and given to him by the owner / trainer. And the other is RH Tecontender, one of the six paint horses used in the movie Hildago given to Viggo Mortenson.

Then there was that really good looking Appalossa, Cochise that John Wayne rode in the movie Eldorado. I read he really disliked that horse.

I could go on and on

That horse was almost human, and definitely dedicated to the Marines!
