Interesting.............I had a regular MK9 made in Sept. 2001. Purchased it new in 2007. It had the Birdsong slide and frame. It was a flat black when new, but after shooting and carry for 8 yrs., it started to get shiny and was getting some hairline cracks in the finish. I believe about 400 were made. Back then, it seems like they were experimenting with different coatings.
