Wiggle the trigger a bit while trying to get the slide back off. Once you do that realign the recoil assembly so it's centered up. Actually it's probably off center a bit but should be true to the slide. It's probably hanging up on that.
Then try again. Let us know how it goes, we'll get to the bottom of it.

If that doesn't work make sure the slide isn't held back by the ejector. Sometimes I have to push it down a bit to allow the slide to return fully.
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.
