I'm no farmer and the only "picking" I do is picking up dog poop in the yard (and I've been remiss at doing that).
As far as the E coli outbreak goes, I've read all the cases are related and they have connected at least one local farm to a shipment of lettuce that made some prisoners sick in an Alaska prison. Just another reason to avoid salads in my book

I needed a reason not to eat salads and that’s a good one.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

I just wash my Romaine lettuce numerous times under the faucet and the sprayer... no problems so far!
