    Default Magazine with metal follower

No doubt about it, Alphonse's Lakeline metal follower for Kahr 9mm magazines works like a charm, but I'm usually pleased when I can acquire one of the "MK" marked magazines with the old folded steel follower. I just received this one from an Ebay auction and it looks as if it might never have been used

I've yet to have an issue with these mags in my MK9.
    Regards,
    Greg

Didn't know metal followers existed. Are they from very early production?
Judging by today's left wing, looks like Senator Joe McCarthy was right after all.

I believe that is the case. I had only seen them in photos until I bought an early production "GA" prefix serial numbered MK9 that came with one.
I have since found several on auction sights. Here's the one that came in the MK9:

Greg, do you know if Kahr ever made a mag like this with metal flook plate & flower for the t9? Also, do you know if a 1911, 9mm mag can be modified like you did with the p series guns? I’ve just finished moving 4 mags for my p45 with good success. I’m looking for a deal on a p9, but I’m not crazy about the Kahr mags with the black plastic base plates! Thanks Gary

    Gary,
I don't know for sure, but I haven't seen any T9 mags with that style metal follower and floor plate (truthfully, I haven't looked much for them either).
If you find one of those magazines for the MK series, the follower and floor plate could certainly swapped into a T9 magazine tube.
You could also look at Lakeline LLC's metal follower and a flat metal floor plate from Kahr

    As to 1911 9mm magazines:
They are too large (front to back and side to side) to fit in Kahr 9mm and .40S&W pistols.

    Regards,
    Greg

Greg, thanks for the info on the mags. I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting a T9 and was wanting some more information before I spent the money. Thanks for your help! U R THE MAN !!!

You can buy the metal floor plates direct from Kahr for $8. They are flat but work fine. It is a fiarly easy swap.

The plastic magazine followers came about as a result of the early metal magazine followers causing the magazines to loose rounds. I remember switching the metal followers out for the plastic ones well over 15 years ago and my magazines never lost a round again. I don't know what the Lakeline ones are like in this regard. They look nice, but I had heard issues with the barrel hitting the front of the followers with those. They may have fixed the issue by now.
