I resemble that remark... now Im done buying guns.
True story and and I thought it was funny. Gun was delivered to my regular FFL today. I knew it was arriving today because I watch the interweb when I know something is coming (FFL knows I do that) and I usually work from home but had gone to the office for a bit to help clear up a problem.
Well, my FFL calls the house and ask for me. Wife answers and tells him I went to the office for a bit and she asked if He wanted to leave a message. He says sure, this is Jim at uh, uh, Patriot Guns and uh, uh, your husband has a package here and uh, uh, he can pick up any time uh, uh, today, tomorrow, next week, next year, just whenever. Wife says OK I’ll tell him.
Well 10 minutes later I walk into the shop. He immediately starts apologizing for spilling the beans. I said what do you mean? He said I screwed up and just told your wife you had a package here and I try not tell wives there were deliveries here because what happens in the gun shop stays in the gun shop and many times they don’t know. He said I should have put my cell number on the invoice. He thought I lied to the wife about going to the office when I was really going to pick up my gun and I was doomed. Cracked me up. I told him she knew and I could guaranteed she would buy something of equal or greater value. I told him the only one I’d have to hide would be another CZ if he had one I wanted in the shop.
Moral of the story I figured out today is this: When you order a gun online many times there is a box for “special instructions”. That box is where you’re suppose to put instructions like “Jim, don’t call my house when you get this. My wife doesn’t know. I’ll watch Fedex tracking and will come get it.”
