I like to keep my guns unloaded when in the safe.

When you unload a PM40, I find the pulling back the slide takes a lot of force.

I'm concerned, that my grip on the slide might slip before I get the loaded round out. The slide would then slam forward.

If I keep my finger off the trigger, is there a chance that the gun might fire causing an AD?

I figure on loading the gun, when I take the gun out of the safe in the morning, I can pull back the slide on the empty gun, lock it back, then put in the mag, and then release the slide lock. I figure that would be a safe way to load the gun.

Any thoughts? Please don't have 10 people say I should keep the gun loaded when in the safe. Not doing that.
