    Default Out to Pasture

Tomorrows the big life changing day. Last day at the PD, pass through the gate to the pasture. At least I don't have to climb over the fence to get there. Not easy for a derelict in a wheelchair ya know.

Been kind of slacking last couple days as they dump my stuff on other people, kind of hard to act like I really care since I told them 2 months ago I was retiring and gave them plenty of time to transition but they wait till the last 4 days. Oh well.

Wife is working for a couple more years so on those days I'll be able to do whatever I want. (I hope).

Maybe more time to make sawdust and get stuff done around the place.

Probably take me a few weeks before I don't park in my spot and realize I don't have a key to open the gate.
    That will look foolish huh?

And of course more time to harass my pals here on Kahrtalk. Should be good.

Not fond of living off the government teat but it works for them that didn't earn it so guess I shouldn't feel too guilty.

I've stocked up on Top Ramen, Hot Dogs, and best quality dog food if things get tight.

Nothing better than doing what you want, when you want. Greatest part of living in this country. You may be surprised how easy the transition might be.

Retired a little more than a year now. I love every single day of it. For the first time since I was 17 I don't have to worry about following someone else's agenda and timeline.

Enjoy Colonel, I'm sure you deserve it. And as berettabone said, it's not hard to acclimate to it. Every day is a gift, as well as a reward for working all of your life before this! This is a different kind of entitlement. The positive kind with the definition that predates today's. You earned this through your working life. Never think otherwise.

Awesome. I want to join the out to pasture crowd one day. Will likely be about 10 more years for me though unless something changes that plan one way or another.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.
