    Question Need help deciding...

I need help deciding between 2 different Trijicon scopes for my Ruger PC9 Carbine 9mm. They are both in the $400 range at Optics Planet.
I am down to getting one of these but can not decide:

    A. https://www.trijicon.com/products/details/rx30-c-800113

    B. https://www.trijicon.com/products/details/mro-c-2200032

    I’d pick the batteryless one.

The lightest one. It also has the smallest dot it looks like. To me the 6+ moa on the bottom one would be larger than I would like for precision shots.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

What distances do you foresee using the carbine at? What type/size of targets?

The 6.5 MOA dot will probably be easier to acquire, but will be less precise as range increases. I'm thinking the 6.5 MOA dot will to cover about 6.5" at 100 yards, with the 2.0 MOA dot doing 2" at the same distance. That's not to say that the 6.5 MOA sight wouldn't suffice for larger size targets at distance and 3.25" at 50 yards could certainly get the job done quickly on two legged targets.

I like the no battery idea, but the other sight's battery will last quite a while.

I think if you are looking at sub 75/100 yard use against bigger targets and low maintenance, go with the battery free sight.

That said, I'd probably opt for the likely better precision of the 2 MOA sight for a carbine. I'm not saying I'll be able to shoot into 2" at 100 yards with the carbine (even off a rest), but I favor the aim small/miss small ideology.

    Regards,
    Greg

Smaller dot, I agree, but I wouldn’t bother shooting 9mm much beyond 100 yards.

I’d be interested to know the velocity of a 9mm carbine. I’ve pondered one of those for a long time and since I’ve acquired a slew of g17 mags now it’s even more tempting.

I think this thread is gonna cost me money....

The Ruger PC9 Carbine has a 16.12 inch heavy, fluted barrel and that can mean a big performance increase, compared to pistol exterior ballistics. With a four inch pistol and Cor-Bon JHP +P 125 grain rounds, you can expect a muzzle velocity (MV) around 1226 fps. Out of this Ruger carbine, the same round jumps to about 1430 fps.

I'd go the MRO 2 moa myself, but I'm like the classic american african hunter, a 4,000 dollar rifle and a 28 dollar scope. I got so much crap at the PD for being that way. There were guys there that had 10x more money just in optics than I had in everything that goes bang.
I think on the little carbine the MRO would look better and be handier, looks are important to me ya know?

Being a 9mm carbine, all shots would be under 100 yards, more like the 50 yard range. I am thinking MAYBE down the road a silencer for it, considering it has a threaded barrel. It's the TAKE-DOWN model.
They also have the battery-less model in 4.5 MOA. Here is the model I got with 4 thirty three round Glock mags. I traded a pistol for it.

Oh you did good getting the 4 mags. Nice it’s the takedown model too.
